Last Wednesday 03/09 we took a drive to Tea Gardens. Not wanting take-away or pub food, we drove down the street looking for a lunch spot. How very fortunate and delighted to find Mumm’s. I recall months ago reading about this restaurant but had completely forgotten, so what a find.
It was quiet when we got there, one other couple enjoying their lunch, so absolutely not a problem to get a table, it was perfect as great outlook to the small jetty there that the Pelicans obviously own.
The tables were all made up beautifully, it was quiet and ambient. Service excellent, no rush once we ordered so could just sit with a bubbles and watch the movement on the water way.
Our meals were outstanding, husband had the Seafood Chowder and I had entree size Seafood Ravioli, both meals delivered piping hot and well presented. For dessert, he had the chocolate ganache with raspberry ice cream, mine….. sticky date pudding, both were to die for.
Tumeric latte was perfect to end the meal for me. I cannot praise this restaurant enough, from the time we walked in, greeted with a smile and shown to a perfect table, staff did not hover, gave us time to choose our food and did not rush us out at end of lunch.
It is quite a large restaurant with outdoor seating, so imagine it can get busy, maybe we were just lucky on the day that it was quiet as I’m sure in holiday and weekends, might be different story.
Thankyou to the staff that made it a very pleasant and...
Read moreWe took visiting friends for dinner on a busy Saturday evening during school holidays but had a great time. The food was its usual high standard. It's not cheap eats but costs are ever-increasing so we look more at value for money - which is very good at Mumm's. The seafood chowder is consistently delicious and generous, the seafood platter's quality ingredients are well cooked, the roasted pumpkin and cauliflower salad more than ample and slightly spicy while the coconut prawns make a lovely starter/side. Mumm's staff were welcoming and professional, never losing their cool or their focus. In noisy spaces with whole tables ordering different dishes it's not easy waiting on tables but they coped admirably. Service was responsive and delivery was well-timed for each course. We should've missed dessert but decided to share the ganache cake between two people. An indulgence and lovely way to round of the meal. Our only mildly critical observations are (a) the fixed booking slots can overshadow an evening socialising but we never felt rushed to leave, except the staff had to start clearing up while some tables were still eating. And (b) Mumm's can get noisy on a busy winter's Saturday evening, but in warmer months they open the windows wide and use the outside tables to effect, so there's usually somewhere to sit for people like me with hearing aids (e.g. half the residents of Tea Gardens!) Overall, a consistently great experience....
Read moreWe just had coffee and scones with jam & cream as a group of 6. It was busy and they were in changeover mode from breakfast to lunch as it was 10:40am when we arrived. We didn't have a booking, but we were quickly seated at a great table outside overlooking the river. Initially we were told that it was policy not to do coffee & cakes after 10:30 am as it was lunchtime fare after then and they usually put all the cakes, scones etc. away. Our waitress, who was bright and bubbly and engaging with our group went and asked if we could order the scones with jam and cream anyway and to our surprise and delight we were able to do so. We were quickly served with great coffee good scones, jam and cream and our group really enjoyed the ambience and river views as we chatted amongst ourselves and caught up with old friends in our group. We have also been for breakfast and really enjoyed it as well. Good menu, friendly attentive staffs, good coffee and food and wonderful views...what else could one ask for? Great prices...yes they do those too. Coffee, Teas, scones x 3 with Jam and cream shared b/w 6 = $45 + a $5 tip for our waitress. Great. Would do it again. On our list for future get together with friends...
