Cascades Restaurant — Restaurant in Thredbo

Awful service. I was just there and didn't even try the food. We didn't even get the table water we asked for. My father, sisters and I waited a few minutes to be seat but we didn't mind we had just come of fields and every where else was crowded with families of young children behaving like animals. We sat down and asked for the water while we looked over the menu. A few minutes later a table of four was seated behind us. We had decided on our food and wine which would have total around $200 and waited to be served. 15 mins go by and the table behind us has now been served by two different waiters recieving both their water and wine and the life story of one of the waitresses who has been skiing for fourteen years or since she was fourteen? Charming. After going up to the bar and actually asking could we be served we were then are ignored by two more waiters and nobody even walked over with a jug of water till we are standing and putting our jackets back on. Such poor service that I'm happy to say my family and I will not be coming back to Thredbo as it doesn't live up to the hype and this was just the icing...

Went for the breakfast buffet ($29) Was good food and good value. I enjoyed the bread & spread variety and the pastries were nice. They didn't have everything I was expecting (muffins, pain au chocolat, dried fruit) after looking on the Thredbo website. I checked Google and realised that photo was from 2014...someone really needs to update the website. Since there is no menu or list we have to rely on photos but the most recent is from 2017. The layout and menu has changed. I stupidly didn't take my phone to get any photos. This place is somewhat good . Our booking was at 7.30 we only got out main at 10pm . Also some one of the staff members decided to cut my wife off after one glass of wine while all 9 other members of our booking were served several bottles of wine . My wife is the kindest least abrasive person you could serve in a restaurant. It seemed to our whole group that it was simply a member of staff taking a dislike to someone for no reason . The wait staff tried to explain it was nothing to do with them, but one member of staff that hadn't even interacted with the table decided to cut off the friendliest member of the table . Then, to top it off, the staff closed the restaurant, and we came back 1 minute after paying the $1300 bill. Wouldn't let us check for our gloves that were behind ....
