Disappointing Food Experience at a Beautiful Restaurant
We recently visited a Greek restaurant in Torquay, excited for what we hoped would be a lovely lunch. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the drinks — especially the frappe — were fantastic. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely. Unfortunately, the food was an entirely different story.
We ordered the $66 two-person share platter, expecting a quality experience to match the restaurant’s look and feel. The chips and salad arrived a full 10 minutes before the rest of the meal. We ended up eating them while waiting for the actual platter to arrive. Once the main food finally came out, our excitement quickly turned to disappointment.
All of the meats were lumped together in one greasy heap, dripping with oil — it honestly looked and tasted as though everything had been deep-fried. The presentation was poor, and the platter was overwhelmingly oily — it felt like a heart attack on a plate.
For the premium pricing and the luxurious setting, the food quality fell shockingly short. At best, the meal would have been worth $30 — certainly not $66. We did raise our concerns with a staff member, who was understanding, but there wasn’t much they could do.
It’s such a shame that a place with so much potential — great location, lovely staff, and a stylish ambiance — served food that was borderline inedible. Sadly, we walked away deeply disappointed.
The worst part of it all is that we're in an inflation hi environment families just want to go out and have a decent meal for what they're paying for we work hard for the dollar bur served. Not food for value very disappointed never to...
Read moreThe food was good, except we found a dead fly in the 🥗 Greek salad. Then it just got awkward ,as the owner waved and gave us $20cash in front of everyone. It was awkward 🤦😕, not sure what his intention was??? His partner was nice and apologetic when we first informed her of the fly in the salad, but when the owner came waving $20 bill and passing it to my teenage daughter, I wasn't sure what was happening 😕. i felt degraded and embarassed for myself and my daughter. I expected apology and refund. Instead we got $20 note waved on our face. i knew they won't give me my refund of $43 which i paid for the food. we didn't finish (share platter)... Left the rest of the food, after the fly incident 🤢.Couldn't get out of there quicker. Left the place not sure what just happened ...I have added the photo of the salad...Look at the tomato 🍅 with fly on it...dead and squashed with extra dressing 🤢🤮. I am posting this review less than 20 min after the incident. Please have some respect🙏. Incident like this makes me feel sad and question , am I being treated this way because I am not caucasian or because I am female, or because I am not aggressive and demanding? I know the owner will say that his partner is coloured women too but...why is it ok for you to flash $20 cash to an adult , who is with her daughter. We were laughing because we are...
Read moreCurrently sitting in the car waiting for a ridiculous amount of time on a Wednesday night for our order to be ready, as they’ve refused to refund us our order amount because we ordered online via card (the website does NOT give you the option to even pay with cash upon pickup). We ordered at 6.32pm. We went in upon pickup up time and were told 10 minutes, 15 minutes later we go in again and ask if it’s ready. We’re met with ‘another 10 minutes’. Go in another 10 minutes later and are met again with ‘another 10 minutes’. So of course we asked for a refund, as most people would. They refused and said they ‘couldn’t refund us what they haven’t received’. Meanwhile we have showed them that’s it’s exited our account to them. They then said ‘we can’t refund to a card’ so we said that cash is fine. They then said ‘No. we can’t do that’. I’d review the food, but it’s been 62 minutes since we ordered and have received nothing. Don’t bother with this place. They’re liars, ridiculously slow and quite clearly don’t give a damn about any of...
