River Arms Hotel — Restaurant in Ulverstone

Went there for lunch Sat 4/10 12.20pm No one to greet you, no sign telling you to wait to be seated. It was busy, but still tables empty. Sat at a window table (1 of 3 the same empty) No reservation sign. Young waitress appears & takes our drink order. Comes back to ask if we are part of a certain group to which we said no. She said would we mind moving to one of the other 2 tables, that was fine, not a problem. THEN……. She says, the Manager said to pass on that we can’t order a meal till 1.30pm because they had a table of 40 ! So I asked if we were expected to wait over an hour till we can order a meal ? She replied Yes. I felt sorry for her. Didn’t feel sorry for the Manager palming the job off onto her. We left & went to the Lighthouse, & had a beautiful meal before that hour was up. Amazing food and friendly staff. Celebrated my son's birthday at RA and the food was wonderful, I had the beef cheek and although I was hesitation about 'cheeks' the meal was wonderful and I'm glad I chose the Beef Cheek. It was flavoursome and rich with a scrumptious mash potato base, and all washed down with JamesSquireAlcoholicGingerbeeron tap. We ended the night with the RA Easter dessert special (dessert in the photos)

Amazing food, celebrated my birthday. Excellent food, friendly staff. Disappointed that the better wines are only available by the bottle ( what's that about), especially if only one or two people drink wines... That alone might send up elsewhere. Plus, I was disappointed that some wines were not available due to non deliveries during public holidays. Certainly, deliveries BEFORE public holidays is better management...

Expectations high, delivery below satisfactory. Service rated 1/10 kids meals forgotten by waitress she did not put them on the order, by the time we finally flagged a waitress to ask for the meals then came back did apologise. Meals eventually arrived after we were halfway though our meals. Meals were average at best for price. Firied fish with Chili and ginger sauce no ginger in that sauce nim jam way to hoy noy pleasant at all nor was the salad drowned in Chili we eat Chili but this was not nice. Pressed shoulder very dry and jus/come gravy no flavour at all did voice our displeasure
