Olivers Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Ulverstone

Olivers was the best bakery we visited in our 3 months on the Island. We got a couple very mediocre pies early on so assumed Tassie wasn’t a ‘pie state’ and left it at that. Glad we found this gem on our last days though We enjoyed it so much that we came back the next day for more pies/cakes and bread, even took cold ones home for later! Being a bit peckish today I decided a hot pie on a cool day would be yummy, and Olivers was closest. Well the upper pastry was nice and flaky, the bottom pastry was pretty stodgy but it stopped the pie filling falling out. The filling in the basic meat pie was pretty sad. tasted like nothing much except salt, but left a grainy dry taste sensation in the mouth. Loved this place for coffee until I saw the barista POKE HER UNWASHED FINGER into my daughter's hot chocolate she was making to see if the temperature was right. And then when I pointed it out and said I didn't want that drink, no apology, no look of embarrassment, just remade the drink and went on business as usual.
