So this review is a hard one, so I have broken it up into a sandwich style feedback.
Chai latte and juice of the day were excellent. However their long black was too diluted and the latte was not amazing. Okay, but not amazing.
In terms of food, we ordered chicken BLT, Turkish Eggs, Japanese pancake and breakfast burger. The breakfast burger was excellent and the bacon jam was outstanding. Unfortunately I was served cold and soggy fries with my chicken BLT but it was otherwise great. The Japanese pancake was okay. The Turkish eggs were confusing. I would suggest a name change on the menu. Turkish eggs are usually a tomato based omelette or Shakshouka. This is not the dish that arrived. The dish that arrived was eggs with fried pita bread, avocado, whipped fetta, and hidden chilli oil under the bread. As someone who is of middle eastern background it was not what I expected. If you wanted to pass it off as a middle eastern breakfast I would have provided walnuts, mint and watermelon also to pair well with the feta and bread. The atmosphere and service were excellent and could...
Read moreWe would have had a much better experience if we had left the kids in the car!! Haha, joking.
The overnights oats were phenomenal. Such beautiful light flavours. I got it for the kids but ended up getting it tale away and ate it for lunch.
My pita, egg, and feta dish was interesting. If the bread had been softer and easier to cut, it would have been a more enjoyable meal. I loved the dukkah, feta, and eggs. The thick cut round cucumbers felt out of place, so I didn't eat them with it, but I had a couple separately.
My wife had the pork benedict. She loved it and wished she had got more pork in her meal. But the flavours were good.
My cappuccino was bitter, but I think I find that generally with Tobys estate. The wife's iced chocolate was so weak it pretty much tasted like milk.
We loved the cafe, the atmosphere, the food was good, our kids were shocking, though, haha. If we can offload them, we will come...
Read moreSome places sneak up on you. You roll in expecting the usual—a half-decent long black, maybe some eggs, a plate that looks better than it tastes. But then, every once in a while, you get blindsided.
This café? It’s the kind of place that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew about brunch. Friendly service, sure. Stylish? Yeah, okay. But the food—this is where things get serious. So good, we’re back for round two.
Turkish Eggs. Fried eggs swimming in whipped feta, avocado, cucumber, dukkah, harissa, and fried, pillowy pita. Forget the menu. Just order this. It’s obscene. The kind of dish that makes you want to cancel your afternoon plans, lean back, and reconsider your life choices.
I’ll say it—this is the best café in Tasmania. We’ve spent ten weeks eating our way across this island, and nothing else even...
