Farmers Arms Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Today's adventure to anywhere ended with us in Benalla around dinner time.

So in the spirit of the adventure day, we decided to try somewhere new.

So happy we did!!

We stopped at the Farmers Arms in Benalla for dinner. We were welcomed by Pete and shown to the dining room. (Although the lure of the bar open fire was strong!!!)

The menu was reasonably extensive and varied,able to cater for most tastes. All at great prices. We ordered the porterhouse steak and salt and pepper calamari.

In a short time, we received substantial size, well cooked and nicely presented meals that were fantastic.

Service was friendly, drinks were good and all in all it was a cozy night. (Especially that fireplace.....did I mention it?)

Some awesome artwork on the building across the road too.

Another hidden gem we have uncovered!

We've lived in Benalla for 8 years but never thought to visit the farmers arm.. generally thought it was just a pub without food and a poor reputation. Found otherwise...new owners have put considerable effort into a great wine list of local wines, great pub food and comfortable beer garden. It's now a hidden gem, but not for long..it's cutting thru the local community slowly and changing its identity from a place to avoid to one you should go...the staff are super friendly.. the clientele visiting lovely... The pub has a great country feel now...I'm glad to have visited and hope to make it my local go too pub for dinner from now on ..if you're a local, check it out...it's not to...

The Farmers Arms Hotel, a great pub, most likely the best one in Benalla. As far as I am aware, this is the only pub that let's your drink until late, and serves shots. In terms of being able to enjoy a night of fun, there are not many options in this rural town. Food wise, I believe the food is quite decent, but nothing overly spectacular, just good pub food! The service is great, with staff being nice and making sure everyone is having a great time. I recommend this pub if you are looking for alcohol filled fun, with co-workers or mates, but not so much for slightly more official events such as a date or other similar...
