We came here for some take away food on our way back to Melbourne and one of our orders was a cheese and tomato croissant, and a breaky burrito with two hash browns. We could see they were a little busy but not packed to the brim. We waited outside for our orders and one of the staff handed us two packages and we had asked them if this was all of our food to which they confirmed.
We took a look inside the packages and noticed that they had not giving us the croissant. We went back inside and let them know to which they apologised. We waited another 5 minutes and we were handed two packages this time. We checked them again as we were only waiting on one croissant and found they had given us two but with ham. We took these back to the counter to the person who took our initial order and he apologised and seemed to be a bit frantic. He took the croissants back and picked out another ham, cheese and tomato croissant from the cabinet and my friend watched him undo the croissant, take the ham out and toss it in the bin, and then proceed to put the same croissant in the packaging and give it to her. She noticed the other workers had also seen him doing this and they looked troubled by his actions. My friend didn’t complain about this as this would have been the third complaint and she did not want to cause anymore fuss.
Although we had not mentioned that my friend was vegetarian - you would think that the staff member should have asked if it was ok to have a croissant that has previously had ham in it after knowing that we had just returned two croissants that had ham in it. If they couldn’t provide a fresh croissant with just cheese and tomato, it should have been an automatic response to ask if there is allergies at play, suggest an an alternative or provide a simple explanation it was no longer possible.
It was lucky that my friend was just vegetarian instead of being allergic to ham because this could have been a horrible situation. After our experience, I won’t be stopping...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place more. Modern looking, many options to be seated, indoor, outdoor, on their deck, with your dog or without, anything is possible. Good little takeaway food section and somewhat reasonable prices. Got heaps of takeaway coffees from here, which were all on point and delicious. So I was aching to stay at least once and have some food. Had the big breakfast which was, well not really that big. 1 piece of sourdough, 2 eggs, 2 half rashers of bacon, one sausage, some baked beans, a hash, half a tomato and a couple of mushrooms. Everything gets layered onto the bread, which ends up soggy, cause all the grease and sauce are soaking through it. The homemade beans loose all their flavour because the sauce is now on the bread, which makes the beans dry and bland. The massive sausage was rather dry and my bacon was on the rather darker, crispier side. The hash is frozen too and overall it was just a disappointing meal. Unfortunately it just wasn’t what I was hoping for. Big breakfasts aren’t for looks and micro herbs I think, they are about size and filling you up. 2 pieces of toast, kept separate to hold the crunch, separate beans with sauce for the flavour, 2 proper pieces of bacon and a whole tomato and some more mushrooms will not break the budget. Maybe some black pudding, hollandaise or even a third egg, that’s what makes a big breakkie, not the fancy garnish...
Read moreI have dined here on several occasions, for breakfasts, brunches and lunches, and have never been disappointed. The food is generally very good, with menu changed from time to time, usually without deleting too many of the favorites, just changing them up a bit. this happened recently and the twists that have been added make the dining experience even better. A satisfying meal with generous meals, prices in the same general range as the other Traralgon eateries, but with more inspired ingredients and finishing flourishes than most. The latest version of corn fritters is very nice with a delicious combination of mild jalapenos, fried haloumi, pork belly and a novel siracha hollandaise, we also had one of the new 'standards' a chilli scramble, and the pancakes now feature a blueberry and lemon addition with icecream of course, a fairly sweet option to start the day, but a winner. A venue that really shines in the warmer months with outdoor seating in the garden, or on the deck add additional atmosphere on a nice day. great coffee and a very good and varied menu, with dining staff that are respectful and not at the table every 5 minutes seeking...
