Fried chicken and beer. Name a better duo. We will all wait patiently. Gami was created by 4 friends and translates to ‘beautiful taste’ in Korean. Perhaps not for the health conscious but I promise you, Gami translates to the direct description of everything on their menu. EVERYTHING is yummy. If you’re a fried chicken lover like myself, Gami is a bit o’ you. Encased in a perfectly fried, crumbly batter, matched with multiple different sauces, Gami is sensory overload and an experience that will leave you eating long after you are full.

There are so many different options, that it can be tricky to choose. To make things a little easier, I suggest doing what we did and get everything that catches your eye 😂 Fear not - the lovely staff will happily box up anything your eyes couldn’t eat. One important detail I’d like to point out to all those who fancy a froff - beers are $3 while you dine. 👌

Gami have stores in Victoria, NSW and ACT. We visited the Waurn Ponds store and the owner Jennifer is a legend. She’s lovely, knowledgeable and we had a great big chat with her when we popped in.

I was recently visiting Geelong from the Sunshine Coast and saw Gami Chicken at the Waurn Ponds Shopping Centre. I'd never heard of or seen them before, so we decided to try it for lunch. I'm so pleased we did. It was delicious! We ordered the Chicken Corndue and a side of Gami Chips. There were 2 adults and 2 children in our party and we were well and truly satisfied (hunger wise) after the meal. The chips are awesome and an absolute must. The Chicken Corndue was also extremely good. The chicken pieces with the corndue were cooked beautifully, nice and moist and not at all greasy. The side sauces were also very tasty. We saw many other meals come out and I have to say I wanted to try them all. The house beer was really good and a great accompaniment to my meal. The kids loved their drinks being delivered by the robot waiter. The "human" staff we very helpful and attentive and gave us a great rundown of the menu and even showed us how to best apply the corndue cheese to the chicken. It was so nice to try something new and I'm hoping that a Gami Chicken store opens near us soon. I was told the restaurant is only new, well done to the owners. I got into the venue like I did last time but the staff working today was not trained properly and doesn't know how to talk. All brown guys are not delivery guy. I walked towards the counter the guy infront of the counter out of no where asked me delivery details and I ignored him as he was mistaken . Then I ordered chicken fried rice dine in and asked for beer as well but the girl inside the counter goes like" sorry we don't do beers and I was like what ?? And again asked can I get one she said no we don't do take away beer and I was shocked as I asked to dine in so I again said " no no it's dine in " . I think they need some training to see the people . The way the tone and the expression feels like Karen's dine in . They need to learn that no matter who comes in first greet and ask what they are there for if he is a delivery guy or girl or a customer for dine in or take away. They need to learn a lot.
