We attended hogs breath Traralgon yesterday 22/03/24 at approx 6:45pm, we were greeted by a lovely guy who made us feel so welcoming. He asked if we’d like to sit at a table or a booth and even allowed us to choose where we’d like to sit which was a nice change rather than some restaurants piling everyone in the one spot. The whole time he had a smile on his face and was super friendly. Both servers checked up on us and even knew straight away we needed a take away container as may have ordered more than we could eat which we all had a laugh about. They’re quick and efficient and we haven’t experienced customer service like this for a very long time. Only thing I could say negative is I was so upset the Coca Cola brisket had been taken off the menu and possibly bigger serving plates. We will be back for sure

Today we happened to drive past a hogs breath! My sister and I were so excited to have hogs breath after not having it for several years. I was so excited! I ordered extra ranch sauce to drizzle over my burger. I was so disappointed to find out the ranch sauce recipe has been changed and just tastes like pure vinegar. My burger was even worse it literally tasted like nothing. I had a slight taste of the vinegar. We were so disappointed šŸ˜ž I guess thats where my hogs breath journey ends. There is no flavour in the burger at all. I feel bad even writing this review because I have had so many good experiences 5 years ago.

We have been to many Hog’s Breaths in Victoria and around Australia. For us, Traralgon’s store layout is the best. It has an open layout, well lighted (not too bright and not too dark) and clean. However, we felt that staffs were flat - feels like they’re not keen, no energy. We had the premium steaks. Good serving portion but the salad was not fresh. It was like salad packets on sale in supermarkets. The steaks were a little dry but very good cuts. We love the Tinara Cabernet wine too! Still recommend Hogs’s Breath Traralgon for those who travel to Gippsland and craving for steak with curly chips.

Would be given 0-1 star but the lovely waitress we decided to give 2.

Partners meal (Ribs), wasn't any explanation into what was in the sauce, ribs were still slightly pink, advertised as 'fall off the bone' this was false advertising, meal was the most pricey and the least amount on the plate. My meal (standard schnitzel), decent amount on plate, chicken was great, not sure why grated cheese and parmesan cheese, salad was like they threw open a bag of coles/woolworths mixed salad on the plate and added cherry tomatoes and cucumber. My main issue is the vegetables, they were cooked with onion, NO IDEA WHY, tried a bit of broccoli and it actually tasted like i took a bite out of a raw onion i had to spit it out into my napkin it was truly a horror. This is not a good idea esp for those with onion allergies, which are lucky not anphalaptic, would be nice if the onion was mentioned in the menu at least.

Childs meal (nuggets and chips), huge amount for childs meal, the amount of grease would've lasted my family for a year it wasn't good for a child, my child ate hardly anything just threw it away, apologies again for the mess i did offer to clean the few amounts on the floor (since getting home we've fed him a home cooked meal).

Drinks.. i just had water, our child has his own water bottle as well, partner had a Corona.. Corona was 9$.. i can understand the upcharge on beverages but to buy a slab of 24coronas averages $60-$70 (2019) so that averages roughly $3 PER corona.. that's an inflation of added 6$... we are offered lemon which my partner declined, no glass just straight from the bottle.

Safe to say we will not be coming back to traralgon hogs breath which is a shame because we frequently went to hogs breath while living in Qld and...

Hogs breathe was amazing as always.

Only objections were..

My Mum ordered a dessert, the apple crumble, which for some reason, came with the sticky date sauce, which she was told was a normal thing. However, my partner had ordered the crumble as well and never got the sauce. I ordered the sticky date pudding that night also, and it was the same sauce from the sticky date as I gave my mum a small sample bite. I saw the amount of sauce my mum had received for her dessert and it was swimming in sauce.. she couldn't eat it due to her diabetes and they gladly removed it from our order and didn't charge us..

I ordered a single drink to be remade. Mine being a ginger ale with cranberry. I ask the waitress for another one of MY DRINKS.. and this was interpreted as ANOTHER ROUND.

The same waitress also saw the error as I was specific and told her to take them away.. I'm not paying for another round as I had only ordered another drink for myself.

She gladly took them away and also removed the from the order.

Now for the review.

The food was amazing as per normal.. adequate size portions for myself and the rest of the party, who normally never eat at larger establishments, loved the food also.

I had ordered the burger with the lot, which was fantastic and juicy with fresh patties instead of frozen and my god it makes a difference. The burger was heavenly and every bite was a meal in itself.

The sweet potato chips were nice and sweet.. however a little crispier would have been good, being the centres were very soft and.. Not too salty and got the sourcream and sweet chilli..

Ordered a Ginger Ale with Cranberry.. nice n bitey and tart.. with a hint of sweet. Delicious.

Will be returning at some point...

I can’t even begin to describe how wonderful our experience was last night.

When we arrived, Patrick greeted us at the door and was incredibly friendly explaining to us what they offered as we hadn’t been before. He asked us where we like to sit and took us over to our table with enthusiasm and positivity. Patrick took our order and was very patient in describing some of the dishes for us. We ate the appetiser of Boss Hog Mushrooms, šŸ„ā€šŸŸ« which were incredibly fresh and the Salt and Pepper calamari. This calamari was the most tender that I have ever eaten and it melted in my mouth. Also the presentation of the food was second to none.

My partner ordered the Long Island Tea and he expressed how fantastic it was. He has had quite a few around the traps in Melbourne etc., and this has to be the best one that he’s had; so great in fact that he ordered a secondary one. Russell, who was the master creator of this, has such a wonderful Customer Service attitude that he really blew us away. A smart man with a great sense of humour and obviously a talent with people.

I decided to treat myself with a rocky road ice-cream sundae. Talk about a party in the mouth; and a great surprise at the bottom of the glass: a warm hot fudge brownie. šŸ˜‹

We will certainly be recommending this place to our work for our office break up at the end of the year but also go there numerous times before then with our friends and family to enjoy the fantastic food and friendly Customer Service. Thank you to both Patrick and Russell you guys are champions and I hope that the Hogs Breath in Traralgon really appreciates...
