Can always count on Hoogah for delicious healthy food! Some prices feel a little steep when reading but I suppose it’s on par with everywhere else in town and they actually offer much different options rather than the same 5 variations of meals that most places have.
Love that the specials are always changing and lots of vegan and GF options. Coffee is good even with soy milk, yay not burned!
Service has been so so when I’ve gone in as I always feel a little uncomfortable and like I’m not really sure if I’m allowed to be there or where to stand or if I can sit down? Seems because I’m not a regular or friend I don’t get the same warm welcome or friendly chatter.
You order at the counter which I wasn’t aware of the first couple times. When a staff member walked by I asked if I could get another coffee - the same as I had already ordered and I was told I’d have to stop eating in the middle of my meal and line up at the counter again behind others. I’ve had my plate cleared at other places before so this worried me a bit. It wasn’t any trouble but just something to note.
If you like variety in your dining experiences, if you’re vegan or GF or are sick of the same old dishes at country cafes you definitely need to...
Read morehoo-gah was amazing! Had to travel to Bendigo last week with Mum for an appointment, we stopped in here on the way home after seeing they had vegan options online. Did not disappoint! Mum isn’t vegan and had bacon and eggs and loved it - I had the smashed avo which was absolutely delicious! We also shared an overnight oats with coyo and poached rhubarb, insanely good. The coffee was beautiful and as there are no vegan options in my home town I had to take some donuts and a biscoff scroll home - they were amazing! Such a cool little vibe inside as well, and the staff were delightful. Big thank you to the chef, I am a qualified chef also and it was all 10/10. Also big thank you to the FOH team you were all lovely. Will definitely be coming back next time...
Read moreWalking from the train station to the Gallery and keen for a coffee, we were delighted to chance on this place. The start of a very happy day. The coffee was first class. My friend was very impressed by a savoury muffin and I had a delicious Toastie. Never had such excellent sourdough toast, thinly sliced and laced with flecks of beetroot. The filling of pumpkin mushrooms and halloumi made it even better.
To add to the experience the chef was demonstrating the making of gnocchi on an extension of the counter for a small group. It added to the welcoming atmosphere. Loved it. S P,...
