Jin Yang Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Victoria

My husband and I went to this restaurant to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. We have gone here quite a few times over the years and previously had a good experience. We booked the Sunday night specifically because it offered a smorgasbord and we enjoy sampling a variety of dishes. We were unfortunately disappointed by our dining experience on this occasion. The restaurant was virtually empty other than another large family and another couple. The food in the bain marie was lukewarm and was 3/4 empty requiring us to scrape food into the corners to get a decent spoonful. The other customers were obviously big eaters and had consumed most of the offerings prior to our arrival. We arrived at 6.30 so it was still relatively early. The dishes were not replenished during our time there. I'd asked if they would be and was asked specifically which dish I'd like.... A short while later a few extra pieces were brought out. We'd paid for a full smorgasbord but unfortunately received only a left over one. Everytime in the past when we've been on smorgasbord night it has been really busy and the dishes were constantly changing. We won't be heading back...

First time here. I had a prawn cocktail, chicken and sweet corn soup and the Mongolian beef. The service was on point. Fast, polite and helpful. I always purchase chicken and sweet corn soup when I have Chinese and this one by far was the best one I have had! Super tasty! Not too thick either. Very fresh! I will be back just for the soup! The prawn cocktail. Yes! I miss a classic prawn cocktail like this, hardly any restaurants do this anymore so I couldn’t help myself and this one didn’t disappoint either. The cocktail sauce was beautiful. The Mongolian although not that spicy was nice. A lot of onion and celery if you are a fan. The sauce itself was nice, slightly oily but that’s me being picky, perfect portion sizes. Overall I would most definitely return and will be. The best Chinese I’ve had for quite sometime. Thank you for your wonderful service……..in continuation of the review I hadn’t posted….I came back 4 days later with my partner….overall same great experience. We ordered Cantonese steak, prawn toast, of course the soup and honey chicken. We were not disappointed!! 10/10 this out go to...

Never again 😡 30 min wait turned into 55 min got told order had been picked up by someone else. As orders were coming out they asked my name & still got it wrong then was going to redo my order upon asking for money back showed me order that wasn't even mine & totally different name find out my order sitting out back for 10 min. Now the food definitely not worth it was crap ....honey chicken..( might as well got chicken nuggets from KFC) was no honey either ? Mongolian beef few strip's of beef in brown liquid, rice was bland , oysters in sartay what a joke. Looks like they got an oyster & cut it up into peices. No whole oysters total rip off ... EVERYONE SAVE YOUR MONEY...
