Terrible experience – consistently disappointing at KFC Mildura (Deakin Ave)

I’m a long-time KFC fan and usually enjoy it once or twice a week while travelling for work. Unfortunately, I’ve had to stop buying KFC due to the consistently poor quality from the Mildura (Deakin Avenue) store. Time after time, I’ve received cold, dried-out chicken, shrivelled and stale chips, and potato and gravy that’s either powdery or stone-cold. Despite being disappointed in the past, I gave them yet another chance this week — and regretted it. After recently enjoying the best Zinger Stacker burger I’ve ever had at the Griffith KFC (hot, fresh, generous and delicious), I was hopeful. But the Zinger Stacker from Mildura was an absolute disgrace. The burger was cold, missing cheese and other ingredients, and just sad overall. The chips were cold and clearly had been sitting around for some time. I took a photo and short video, compare it to what’s advertised, the difference is shocking. Absolutely the worst KFC experience I’ve ever had.

The front-of-house was filthy—chicken, chips, and trash everywhere. The floors looked like they hadn’t been swept in hours, despite the store not even being busy. The most shocking part? Mould visibly growing on the hand dryer and in the sink—literally one of the easiest spots to keep clean. If this is how the customer-facing areas are kept, I dread to think what the kitchen looks like.

We waited around 10 minutes for our order, during which time half the meal was taken out of the warmer and left in the box to get cold while the rest cooked. Common sense would say to leave everything in the heater until it’s ready to pack.

To top it off, we specifically asked for no salt on the chips, which they said would take a few extra minutes. Fair enough—but not only did they forget the request, they salted the chips anyway after making us wait another 5–10 minutes. So we got the wrong order and cold food.

I wont lie, KFC is my all time favourite takeaway, however, the last 4 or 5 times we have visited has been a total let down, even making my husband say he never wants to go there again. We visit the Mildura 15th store and the last times we have visited there, the Chicken was dripping in grease our potato and gravy was so running you could literally pour into a jug (which we did) the crispy strips are about one cm wide in size and the popcorn chicken is all coating and no chicken. We ordered a Street wise feast and got 3 wings, 3 drumsticks and 2 thighs. And I cannot count how many times we have gotten the wrong sauces or none at all. The services is friendly enough but seriously someone needs to be checking these orders. We always go through the drive through because the restaurant area is always messy with tables not cleaned. I have worked in fast food before and I understand it challenges but this standard really need to be picked up or you will loose a long time loyal customer.
