$8 for a single burnt potato chip... More style than substance. Won't be going back.
Just ate at Newfolk for the first time. We got there at 11 and ordered our food and drinks as soon as the wait staff came to us. We ordered a green tea, which was nice, and a flat white that was pretty horrible and on the bitter side.
There was only 4-5 other small groups, mostly 2 person, who were just having coffees. After about 40 mins we asked after our food and were told it was busy when we ordered and that it wouldn't be long (didn't look busy at all and got no apology).
We were then given some cutlery which was dirty. To be fair, the food tasted pretty good, although it was on the pricey side for most cafe's. BUT, the kicker was the hash brown. It cost $7 and was the size of a pinky finger (literally 1 mouthful). Not only was it burn, but with the extra 10% surcharge for being a weekend, actually cost $7.70. I've never felt more ripped off.
To top it off the toilets and back area were pretty disgusting as well. They seem to have a lot of regulars who are happy with them, but we're not wasting our money here again when there's plenty of other great...
Read moreA great little gem in Newtown. Quality ingredients, fresh and tasty. We ordered a simple scrambled eggs on sourdough, the wife had her eggs very well cooked with a side of bacon. I had mine as per usual, a little runny and creamy, as I like them, with a side of pulled pork.
Eggs were done right, tasty, fresh, full of flavour and the sourdough was amazing. The pulled pork gave the dish another dimension. I firmly believe you don’t need all the fancy stuff that goes with egg dishes these days like other cafes do, if done right, so you can taste the actual core of the dish. This didn’t disappoint. Well done.
Our waitress managed tremendously today with a full house on Australia Day, surprised she was alone and did her best! Kudos to you. And the chef, knocked it out of the park.
Great little gem and will be back. Thanks for having us. Btw coffee...

Everything you could ask for at such a quaint cafe. Coffee A1. Long black was bold and balanced. My mother’s cappuccino had immaculate art and also enjoyed. Food A1. I had Avacado on sourdough complimented with poached eggs and delicious flavours. HCT toastie was also extremely tasty. I’ll be returning many times to go...
