I booked the upstairs function room for my dad’s 70th birthday. We had children in our party and I wanted everyone to feel safe and secure, thus booking the function room! A week out from our booking, I was called by the Gold Diggers Arms and told that the space was no longer available but, I was reassured that we would have a quiet space, suitable for children. When we arrived on the night, we were given a space just inside the door of the public bar. It was incredibly loud, with many intoxicated people close by. We instantly complained and were told to sit for 15 minutes while they organised something more suitable. Eventually we were given the space we had originally booked however, one waitress made it clear that we had inconvenienced her, she yelled at one of the children as they excitedly walked into the space. The service we had for the rest of the evening was wonderful, my dad enjoyed his birthday and the children felt safe and comfortable. Note: Don’t order the ribs though, they were expensive and very dry. All other meals...
Read moreI was recommended by a friend of mine about this pub. So we walked in on Wednesday night. Service was real slow and the staff didn't even take the initiative to come take our order but rather just chatting with each other or walking around. Never came check on us.
Food wise, we ordered arancini with pesto, glazed pork ribs and fish and chips. Ended up waiting more than 30 minutes to get those to our table. Had to chase up once with the staff.
First of all, arancini was flavourless and the pesto was dull and dry.
The pork ribs must have been the worst one we ever had. It was so dry and tough on the inside. I reckon it hasn't been slow cooked before roasting hence the dryness The side salad was not dressed properly. To be honest Aldi's frozen one is much better.
Fish and chips was okay but again the salad was not fresh and dressed properly.
The overall dishes presentation was really average.
Cost wise, it's definitely not bang for buck for that sort of service and food.
There are many better pub options out...
Read moreVery disappointed with the deceptive staff that took our booking. My husband rang (on Tuesday) to ask if Wednesday night was still Parmi Night, the staff member that took the call confirmed it was. My husband said "okay can I book a table for two please" . The staff member responded by asking if he wanted to sit in the bar or bistro. Hubby chose the bistro. After our meal, which was one 150 ml moscato, a schooner of mid strength beer and two parmigianas our bill was $94 Because.....Parmi night is only in the bar area so we had to pay normal bistro price. If we rang and specifically asked about Parmi night dont offer the bistro knowing it does not include the Parmi specials. We do Parmi nights all over Geelong weekly and the Parmi itself was quite nice but we won't be back due to the dishonest nature that our...
