Perhaps its changed hands, perhaps lunch is not their forte, but it was a terrible let down this week from a weekday lunch.
Extremely slow service, and my wife's main meal was clumped pappardelle pasta, poorly presented and poorly prepared.
My main consisted of overcooked (rubbery) calamari.
Planning a dinner tonight and Ripples is off the menu. Pity, it was such a delight previously.
I didn't post a rating after the first time - it was sensational, but so often you luck out... Tonight we were treated to: Best view in Geelong Glorious food accompanied by a magnificent wine Staff that seemed to care about our enjoyment of the evening, without intruding into it Whipping up a dessert for our children (off menu) and refusing to charge for it
We have eaten at everything around Geelong, and while I'm sure plenty think of that other place with a view (never again!!!), the view back towards the Marina, the Ferris wheel, Cunningham Pier, is simply as good as it gets. Add to that simple, classy service with excellent food - I'm surprised it isn't booked out for...
Read moreMy group visited this place on a pretty warm and windless Saturday morning for breakfast. We were sitting on the left side of the main entrance which was surrounded by massive glass windows on two sides.
It got pretty hot.
We asked the first waitress twice whether they could turn on the split system air-con immediately above our heads, she said ok twice but no action.
The youngest of my group then asked the second waitress (manager?) again, and she gave a crisp "no we're not turning on the air-con today" with what's to my ears a hint of rudeness and contempt in there. She did open some windows but that was a completely pointless exercise.
We spent the whole meal sweating from head to toe.
I gave it two stars because the food was fairly decent, but how were we going to enjoy? We just wanted to be out of there ASAP. This was easily my worst dinning experience for the year yet - and this is December 2017.
What's worse than not understanding your customers' needs is when you...
Read moreI have to say that Ripples by the Bay was very, very disappointing, with exception of the service provided by the waiting staff. My partner and I both ordered scotch fillet steak: I ordered mine rare and I received a medium steak and my partner ordered her's medium rare and that was how my partner's was cooked. Both steaks were cut far to thin to be cooked properly. The accompaniments we also fairly miserable, two stalks of broccolini which were very under cooked and I prefer my vegetables el dente but the broccolini was hard and chewy. Well we also served two fried, breadcrumbed balls something like arancini balls stuffed with mushrooms: very ordinary also. We both ordered our steaks with mushroom sauce which was more like cheap mushroom soup with no actual pieces of mushroom at all in the sauce. After leaving I could have gone and bought a pizza to feel satisfied. Very, very...
