Pastry & Pieces — Restaurant in Victoria

I ordered a cake from Pastry and Pieces for my daughter and it was very disappointing. I ordered the cake in early December for first week of January so there was plenty of notice and time given. Chef was shown a picture of the design and it was agreed on, with some minor changes to the colour scheme. When I picked up the cake last weekend I was so disappointed to see that the decorative lining at the base was not done, the butter cream icing was not smooth with parts of the cake was still visible. The decorative cross that I wanted done in fondant was very poor quality with no attention paid to the details, not even straight lines. When I expressed my disappointment to the lady who handed me the cake, her response was “Sorry I didn’t take the order, so I don’t know”. When I asked about the missing decoration, I was told the Chef did not have the tools for it. All they would’ve needed was a turn table and nozzle. On top of all this the sponge cake was dry. Two stars because the doughnuts are great, but geez, not ONE of those women smile and getting a thank you for parting with my hard earned cash seems a lost cause. I’ve been coming in about 3 or 4 times a week recently. I won’t be going again. Having been served by about 8 different people in the last month and seriously not one of them smiled (and it shows - I’ve only seen 1 of them wearing a mask properly or at all). I’ll be going up the road to Triple F where they’re ALWAYS friendly and accommodating. And so do most of my office now - we’ve all experienced this poor service so you’ve lost 4 of us daily...

We know during Covid-19, cafes can only have 10 patrons indoors. We went in and counted the people there were 5 already inside and 4 of us (2 adults, 2 children) made it 9. We moved 2 chairs to make a table of 4 so we could sit together but the Lady said we couldn’t move the chairs in case other people came in. Didn’t make sense. Lady still went of at us saying it’s not her rules!! Strange as there was only 9 in the shop. We left and spent our $120 at another cafe that allowed us to sit together. We...
