Visited, with friends to celebrate Christmas. Great oldie worldly hotel which really appealed to me and I will be visiting again. Friendly bar staff. The people I was with had Oyster Kilpatrick as as enter which they lovely followed by reasonably priced seniors meal. Which was also enjoyed. I opted for the mixed grill, which I informed by my friends, was a huge meal, although quite a bit pricey at $34. I ordered garlic sauce which pushed the price up to over $36. My meal consisted of a very small loin chop, what I regarded as a small piece of steak, about 10mm thick, a small piece of bacon and a sausage. A meal which I found for the price very disappointing. For $36 at a restaurant I could a high quality steak with Veges/side salad. I consider my mixed grill would have been reasonable price at $20, but, still not like the mixed grill of years ago, that you could get from any pub you could walk into. Had I been satisfied with the meal, I would have certainly added another star. But, as I said,I will hopefully return at a later and write...
Read moreThe service here is excellent, happy staff and very fast service. Our meals were delectable! Chicken parmigiana was very hot, crunchy on the outside and moist inside! The veal parmigiana was lovely and tender. Crispy chips and a lovely salad. My only suggestion is a salad dressing with a bit more flavour! Oh and disappointed that I couldn’t purchase a can or bottle of diet soft drink! The reason behind this was because a bottle can be used as a weapon and they are not allowed to sell cans of soft drink. So my question is why can they not have cans or bottles and pour it into a glass for the customer? Overall though fantastic atmosphere, staff and meals. Will definitely return! I just spoke with a lady from the bar and she said their sugar free soft drink on tap is nice and gave me a glass to try. It was actually quite nice! Not syrupy like I’ve experienced in the past at other places. So I recommend...
Read moreFirst time there, was surprised with the ambience of the place, really liked all the old photos of Bacchus marsh and the surrounding district also loved all the antiques that they had around the establishment, today was chicken parma and snitchel night for $12.00, I had the parma with original topping, but you can also have a choice of 4 different toppings. My wife had the calamari it was very tender and was great value for money. Look the parma wasn't the best that I have had and it certainly wasn't the worst that I have had but I still enjoyed it. For the calamari and parma the price was around $36.00, which is quite cheap for a pub meal for 2.. Was very busy so I suggest you get there early.. We went there on the spur of the moment so had to wait a little for meals but that was OK.. Would go back there again. Can highly...
