The Deck Bendigo
The Deck has potential, however if asked, i would not recommend at this point in time.
I had visited this establishment for the first time on a Saturday evening with a small group of others to be met by a man at the entrance, who i later found to be an employee. First impressions given by this employee were that he was a patron who had almost had enough to drink for the evening and thought he could have a good time pretending to work at the entrance.
The pricing is nothing special and quite average for such an establishment. A special for jugs was advertised until 9pm, however the price that you would pay prior to this time seemed to depend on which employee was behind the bar.
I felt as though the Deck was over staffed and most if not all employees were inexperienced. Many were more interested in socialising than working which was fine however there did not seem to be any leadership from a manager or team leader. I could only see one employee who clearly worked for this establishment while all others were dressed in casual wear and only identifiable by the towel hanging from their back pocket.
There was a small group of patrons dancing on tables and chairs, which seemed to give the staff members a good laugh however did not appear to be addressed. Patrons were permitted in while wearing caps and hooded jumpers, that is until the two crowd controllers seemed to have commenced their shift. It was at this point in time that i had the impression that these two were required to go through the establishment correcting dress codes that were previously okay by the employees standards.
The tables were sticky with drink residue and minimal to no effort was made by staff to clean. One employee came to clean our table while we were seated with a dry towel, commenting "it would be better if it were wet" before leaving and not returning.
The "DJ" was nothing special and seemed to play a very repeated beat that soon became annoying and gave the impression of either being another staff member or a friend of the staff.
Finally upon leaving this establishment we were informed that if we came back we could get a stamp for free entry as it is paid entry after a certain time. Knowing this was an abnormal way of conducting the stamp upon entry process, we had returned to put this to the test only to be informed by a different emoployee that we would be required to pay for entry, which would also get us a free drinks card for one of their drinks (likely to be watered down). When questioned about what the previous employee had informed us, they were either unaware or did not...

This is a member of the “ management team”. Please. PleaSE PLEASE if you have issues do not rely on security staff, got to THE DECK WORKERS - the deck staff members seem to be the only ones upholding the vibe , safety and community at a local night club!!!!

Read moreA few Security guards are terrible, don’t know which company they are from but they need to go back to training. Instigating and aggravating situations when they are supposed to be the calm CROWD CONTROLLERS not the reason things are escalated especially with men!! I think Bendigo has to catch up with the rest of Melbourne because people want to feel safe and secure when out at the night clubs ! No wonder the place can’t get anyone over 25 in there. Unless on drugs or being stupid would highly...
