My recent visit to The Duck Inn in Marysville left me utterly dissatisfied, and I cannot fathom the exorbitant prices and poor service I encountered during my time there. Firstly, the prices were outrageous, with a regular almond latte setting me back a staggering $8.25. I understand that quality comes at a cost, but this was simply unjustifiable for a standard coffee. The steep price tag left a bitter taste in my mouth before I even took my first sip. The service, unfortunately, did not fare any better. The Indian waiter, who attended to our table, was not only short with us but displayed a level of rudeness when we posed basic questions about the menu. The lack of patience and dismissive attitude was highly off-putting, making it clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority for the staff. To add insult to injury, when we inquired about ordering a parma, we were informed that they were not being made to order at 11 am, only to witness other patrons receiving freshly made parmas just 10 minutes later. This inconsistency in information left us feeling misled and frustrated. My dissatisfaction reached its peak when my eggs arrived undercooked. I had to go through the inconvenience of sending them back, and by the time the corrected dish arrived, my dining experience had been thoroughly tainted. In light of these disappointments, we decided to cut our losses and leave shortly after. The overall experience was far from enjoyable, and I strongly advise others to steer clear of The Duck Inn in Marysville. The combination of exorbitant prices, unhelpful staff, and inconsistent service is a recipe for a dining disaster. Avoid at all costs.

The food was such a let down unfortunately. The menu is huge with the additional specials posted on and around the bar; maybe we should have tried some of the delicious sounding Korean classics that were on offer, as it seems like that's the chef's happy place. No shade, I just wish I'd have ordered differently for my meal. Unfortunately we came with a plain eater and a craving for pub classics. My scotch fillet steak I requested med-rare and got med-well, which tasted like liver and a waste of a beautiful piece of meat. The peppercorn sauce had no pepper flavour, tasted like passable gravy and had 2 very swollen peppercorns in it, so I'm unsure how old it was. The carrots were dehydrated and over roasted, the beans not trimmed. The mash I was neutral on. It passed. The schnitzel was dry, not all breadcrumbs were toasted, it was very obviously oven baked and not fried as schnitzels really need to be. You can see in the background of the mulled wine pic, there was just no love on something that should've been the star of the plate. Mulled wine was good. I don't like to be negative, usually I'd just never come again but I feel that some constructive feedback might help and if you make some changes and nail the classics you could be a go-to place for food and vibes in your location.

My visit to The Duck Inn was largely disappointing, despite a few bright spots. There was no welcome upon arrival, setting an uninviting tone from the start. Oddly, even though the restaurant was almost empty, all tables by the fire were "reserved," a peculiar situation given their online policy of not taking reservations. The owner couldn't even confirm when these tables would become available. The menu is a chaotic mess, a jumble of cuisines with items scattered across the bar. This disorganization makes ordering a frustrating experience. The owner's demeanor was exceptionally rude; he clearly didn't want to be there and offered no support to a visibly struggling young waitress who appeared to be family. As for the food, the fried wings were great, a definite highlight. The bibimbap was just okay, but my order was marred by issues with the eggs. They initially came out raw like they’d been cracked into the dish fresh with no apology offered. When the dish was finally re-made, the eggs were severely overcooked, ruining the dish. The pricing added to the dissatisfaction: a mere 100ml of mulled wine for $10, and a $30 bibimbap with an added 1.3% surcharge. It's no surprise this Inn was nearly deserted even with the Lake Mountain slopes busy. Steer clear.

Really disappointed with the service we received at the Duck Inn recently. We were a large group of 15, 8 adults, 7 kids. We booked a table well in advance for a birthday lunch. So they wouldj have been aware of the staff required to cater for their bookings. On arrival, we were shown to our two tables amongst the chaos. Then the waitress threw the menus at us and instructed us to write our order down on a sheet and she will return to collect. We had just arrived and before we even looked at the menu felt the stress within the pub!! The kids who sat on another table, got up to play a game of snooker. I’m which they needed coins. We asked the man at the bar could he exchange our notes for coins. He said no. We bought a lollipop for $1 and requested coins for change which eventually he gave grudgingly. Whilst the kids were away from their table, the wait staff came and removed all their drinks they were still drinking. Then tried to blame us for not letting them know, we were on a separate table unaware of what they were doing! Our food arrived, but me or two of our party were left waiting but eventually received their food. Most of the food was good and tasty, would not recommend the BLT! Also, our friend who has Coeliac disease wanted to ask the staff first which dish is 100% gluten free, even though on the menu two dishes were classed GF and a few GF option. She literally had to chase the waiter through the pub, he was not interested and basically said they cannot guarantee the food to be GF! Hence one less meal ordered. Overall, such a disappointing experience, which was meant to be a relaxing birthday pub lunch with friends and annoyed we spent our hard earned cash in a venue that don’t care less about their patrons. Let’s just say we...

Unfortunately I stopped in here after a bike ride with my family to grab a beer for my wife and I, a raspberry coke for the kids, a bowl of chips and some cheesy garlic bread. The only thing that wasn't disgusting was the beers but if they we actually cold they would have been better.

My kids only get a soft drink on special occasions and this was one of those times, as excited as they were after a couple of mouthfuls they pushed the drinks aside. I decided to try one and no wonder they didn't want it, I don't know what it was but if you could imagine what dish washing liquid smell would taste like that was these drinks, absolutely disgusting!!

The chips looked and tasted like they had been collected from uneaten meals and quickly refried. Shriveled but oil soaked yellow chips served with some poor attempt of a aioli.

Now to the pièce de resistance the garlic bread, how do you say "throw it in the microwave without saying throw it in the microwave" by far the most horrible attempt at a garlic bread I have come across. Two thin slices of Vienna bread cut in half thrown on a paper towel covered plate partially covered with cheese microwaved then served. They hadn't even gone to the trouble of browning of the top in a grill it was just a waste of bread and cheese.

This pub/restaurant could and should be great, it is in one of Victoria's most beautiful locations but is a complete let down and the only reasons why it is still open is because it has no competition in the immediate vicinity, they sell alcohol and due to th effort of the local community to make Marysville such a nice...
