Every aspect of The Elephant Tusk was on point. From the customer service to the not-too-loud, unobtrusive music to the food. Especially the food! I had the pleasure of tasting the pineapple fried rice, the slow cooked lamb massanan curry, the pad satay and the roti bread. The flavours were delicious and the food was promptly delivered. My personally favourite was the pineapple fried rice which we ordered with tofu and vegetables and thoroughly enjoyed. Spice levels were fine ( the massaman had a little heat but nothing excessive) and the waitress helpfully directed us to order with 'no spice' if mildness was desired. All the dishes we ordered were easily made gluten free (except the roti of course). Our waitress was lovely, helpful and accommodating, and the atmosphere was peaceful. Ensure you ask a staff member where to find the toilets becuase they are a little hard to find, but clean. Overall this was some of the best Thai I have had and I thoroughly recomend it. Thank you to the staff of The Elephant Task for making our...
Read moreGeelong is so fortunate to have the best Thai food in Victoria, if not Australia. The extreme care and attention given to each dish result in exquisite tastes, especially the Pad Satay chicken and chicken or seafood Pad Thai. For example, the commitment to excellence by the young chef (Gong) is evidenced by use of coconut cream instead of coconut milk to provide that extra flavor. This is our “go to” restaurant for special occasions in addition to our biweekly visits! The service is exemplary, efficient and most courteous. I am disturbed by the one-star rating based on how hot the Pad Thai was — if notified, Gong would have immediately remade it to the customer’s liking. The remodeling of the kitchen to allow gas cooking has resulted in faster cook time and more flexibility to create truly outstanding...
Read moreI had an interesting experience at The Elephant Tusk. While the food was absolutely delicious and the staff were genuinely lovely, a few quirks took away from the overall comfort. The table setup was quite odd—what seemed like a table for two with an extender made the leg placement really awkward. It left barely any room to sit without feeling like you were squashed up against the wall. On top of that, the menu had very tiny writing, and with the poor lighting, it was a bit of a challenge to read.
That said, the quality of the food and the friendly service really stood out. If they could just tweak these little things—better table layout and more readable menus—it would elevate the whole experience...
