38 minutes to get an extra hot, extra shot latte that wasn't hot. Drank it in under 20 seconds. I had hi-viz on, so I got a clear message they'd rather I don't come in dressed like that. I get it. I do. Workers can send the wrong message going into restaurants wearing work gear. Here's the thing, there was only 5 people dining at the time. Another person came in after me and ordered a meal and received that meal before I got my cup of warm coffee. They scored a Pyrrhic victory however. After working very hard for 10 years, I recently changed jobs and now earn fully double. When on afternoon shift I would have regularly gone in for lunch as a treat to self since I was looking for places in Maryborough. Perhaps I reason incorrectly, but it seems they must have a lot of money that they can pick and choose customers. I guess it's a balancing act for the owners in the end. No hard feelings but you earned the correct rating from me.
Edit: The review stands - with a caveat. So I got the part about the hi-viz WRONG. I'll admit that based on your response. No argument. I was wrong to come to that conclusion. However waiting 38 mins part of my review is true. If you think that is 'ridiculous' as you put it, I put it to you then that's part of the problem. I incorrectly reasoned, as it turns out, that I was intentionally kept waiting to dissuade people like me but wait 38mins for a coffee I did. This is why I wrote the review. Why else would I give a one star review? It doesn't hold up - there was a problem with the service.
I'm not intentionally meaning to double down here, but I'm not going to recount that part of my review because it actually happened. You make sure you have a really...
Read moreLet’s start with the positives… the open fire was ablaze and throwing out a delicious heat on a freezing morning! We got a seat right next to it! The food was well portioned and came quickly, the coffee was hot! The quirky, mismatched furniture and decor of past visits has been replaced with tasteful painted walls and matching metal chairs. There is an acknowledgement to country on one wall. I ordered the big breakfast and a coffee which set me back almost $40. My avocado portion was overripe(rotten) and I left it on my plate. This should have been picked up prior to serving it to me! The sourdough was burnt and the chorizo overcooked and rubbery (hard to cut through) but tasty. Tomatoes, delicious, bacon underdone for me (I like it crunchy) the 2 poached eggs were tiny and overcooked, had they been bigger they would have been cooked perfectly! My mate ordered the mushrooms with goats cheese and found them to be delicious! We were both unimpressed with the coffee. The toilets are a good walk away from the cafe and outside. They were locked (after I’d asked staff where they were) this was a bit annoying as I had to walk all the way back to the cafe to get them unlocked and then back again to use them). Upon chatting with the proprietor we found that the venue is also a ‘Piano Bar’ and figured that maybe the ‘magic’ happened at this venue at night! He also mentioned that the Italian chef makes his own gnocchi! This holds...
Read moreDisappointed. Having worked hospitality for 20+ years I'd heard good things about this place but was left feeling very disappointed. I actually came in for birthday cake, my mum order a baby chino no marshmallow and a piccolo and a flat white. The baby chino was warm milk I'm pretty sure a baby chino is froth. My piccolo was bitter and scolding hot. The barista was ok she could touch up on her coffee knowledge an skills and the other waitress was incredibly slow and rude. No smiles no apology and very slow service. It wasn't busy. Zero listening skills as the baby chino came w a stale marshmallow and no candle w the cake. I know these are minor things but overall could have been handled alot better especially because the barista got into an argument with me re the piccolo and baby chino. Sad for marybourgh and you've...
