Visited here for Breakfast shortly after 9:15am. There was a table outside in the sun, so we decided to grab that. There were dirty plates from previous customer but thought it would get cleared quickly. (Hmm maybe not).
Ordered 2 breakfasts (bacon and scrambled eggs and breakfast tacos) with 2 large coffees.
We went inside to order and that itself took about 10 mins waiting in the queue. Should have taken that as a first red flag. Girl taking orders looked like she was doing everything - orders, making coffee and serving.
after about 25 mins the coffees came. (Still had the dirty plates on table) we had to ask to get them removed . 2nd red flag!
After over 40 mins the food arrived! We got an apology for the wait and was told there was only 1 person in the kitchen - Both dishes were really cold!
I asked for mine to be warmed through. Another 10 mins until it came back. Poached eggs on top were hard boiled- food was warmer though. The breakfast tacos were nice - full of flavour and were tasty (apart from said hard poached eggs) The scrambled eggs were awful. Watery and not much egg. Bacon was cold. Buy this time my partner was very much over the whole experience. So we just ate!
We paid $65 for this meal. They charged us a 15% surcharge. Now I understand small country places need to survive and if the service and food was good we would look past! Maybe a suggestion- use the 15% on hiring extra staff or someone else in the kitchen.
And while youāre at it - get a soft close on the front door. every time someone entered and exited the cafe it slammed. Just to add to our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have to say today's experience was very unpleasant! I have been here before and apart from the service being a bit slow, have sung praises of the Daily Dose's food and coffee to all of my family and friends. Last time I travelled to Maryborough, there 3 adults and 2 kids, staff helpful and friendly as always but, a few of the irders were incorrect and we were advised that there had been a glitch in the kitchen. That's fine, we enjoyed our much longer than expected lunch and went home. Today we travelled especially to have lunch and it was a disaster! Drinks were good but finished half an hour before my partner's meal arrived. He dug in with anticipation but was disappointed very bland, not seasoned. After a very long time, he was finished with his meal, I got up to ask if mine was coming and told it's coming shortly. Another long wait and an embarrassed waiter brought it and apologised that the docket was lost in the kitchen, the 3 other items on the same docket had been consumed already! I tried to eat mine but it seemed that it had been sitting the whole time in the kitchen, swapped into a new bun, but virtually inedible. Chicken would have been great shoe soles, brie cheese was dried out and the cranberry sauce was dry. The bacon was ok but again dry. I did interrupt the staff, all at the kitchen servery, to complain, to be met with no real response, just a shrug off. Sorry to all my friends that I have recommended them to. Won't be going back. Anyone can have a bad day but at least...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCoffee was awesome strong and great flavour and temp. The chilli scrambled eggs (both servings) though visually spectacular (tornado style) were over cooked and more like an omelette, so dense and needed to cut it with knife. The sausage was tasty and we really liked these. There wasn't much chilli either (I suppose some ppl would complain if there's more š). @ $22ea I or hope for better. The Big Breakfast was plentiful but the eggs (poached) were really runny with uncooked egg white (and not just a little bit) again @$27 just not good enough. It wasn't busy and food was OK.. Would I rush back here.. Probably not and that's ok. The people were lovely and friendly and I love that they bring something to Maryborough that most country towns don't do. When you pay over $80 for 3pp l for breakfast.. I dunno I was...
