I've been going to this place for the past few years, and it’s usually a nice spot to visit in the mornings. However, my experience this morning (13/09/24) was quite disappointing. When I arrived, I was seated in the middle of the entry area, which was very noisy with people walking around. I noticed there were only two couples in the outdoor covered area, and plenty of empty tables, so I requested to move outside.

It was a cold morning, and I sat under a heater that wasn’t turned on. I politely asked a young waitress if she could switch it on, but her response was rude and frustrated. She simply told me, "If you're cold, go sit inside." This level of customer service was shocking—she seemed completely unaware of what hospitality is about.

I understand that there were only two staff members at the front, and she might have been overwhelmed, but that’s no excuse for rudeness. The owners should ensure their staff are trained in customer service because this kind of behavior affects the business's reputation. Staff need to understand that Ballarat has many great cafés, and people choose to come to Webster for a reason. Instead of being defensive, this could be seen as an opportunity to improve and provide...

Being from out of town, a dear friend of ours who is a local recommended this place to grab a good coffee before heading home on Easter Sunday, 4/4/21. We love a good coffee and were super keen!

Perhaps two minutes after we arrived (and were standing right in front of him at the counter) a man asked how we were and then strangely proceeded to ignore us while he continued to make coffees. He was busy, but we felt unwelcome, in the way and it was awkward when we had to wait 3-4 minutes before anyone asked us if they could help. Meanwhile, locals were grabbing their orders and were greeted with warmth as they collected their order - a very different vibe. I order coffee on a daily basis and I've never had an experience like this before.

When we were finally served, before we were even able to place an order we were warned that there was at least a TWENTY minute wait for any coffee! We turned around and walked out, as did the couple after us. Luckily, we got great coffee at The Lane in Ballarat city centre. Very disappointed with the unwelcome, "we don't care if you stay or leave because we're really...

Usually can't complain about Websters but came here for lunch on Sunday 1.03.20. When we first arrived we were not acknowledged so we sat ourselves and waited around 15 minutes until we had to get up ourselves to get a menu. We noticed that the girl waitressing seemed new and was constantly apologising to other customers about orders being forgotten. Hard to tell if this was her fault or the kitchen/coffee makers fault, but different things like this was happening a lot around us. We finally got served and ordered and got one of our drinks quickly and about 15 minutes later our food arrived. At this point we were pretty sure one of our drinks had also been forgotten which was fine, we just ask if it was still on it's way as our food arrived. A man who was blonde and was wearing glasses said he'd check up on it and then brought it over to us and sat down in front of me with no apology. Food was delicious as always just the service was very much below average...

Webster's is my favourite cafe in Ballarat. Even though it's not in Melbourne the food quality here would fit right in and you never feel like you're missing out on something better. There's a wonderful vibe in the cafe and the decor is beautiful. They seem to have a lot of passion for good food and coffee and the same passion is seen in their attention to detail of the cafe's interior design. I absolutely recommend coming here even if it's just to soak in their modern styling. Their coffee is very nice and I like their food menu options too. I have to say that the French toast is beautiful to look at, and its flavour has a unique sweet combination thing going on. It is a bit sweeter than I normally like French toast, but it doesn't detract from its quality. The menu has plenty of dishes that you must try because (if I'm honest) it's really hard to come by food like this in Ballarat. So don't miss out and come give it a go! You won't regret it.

In the words of Mary Poppins, this place is practically perfect in every way ! The food is really exciting in both presentation and taste. Love love loved everything. Please thank the talented Chefs. The front of house staff are also genuinely warm and friendly. With covid-19 seating restrictions in place, we suggest you book ahead or you might miss out. If you are lucky enough to get a table, your fellow foodies would appreciate it if you didnt linger to chat and instead ordered that second coffee to go. In doing so you will not only free up a table for the next hungry traveller but also ensure this wonderful cafe survives.

EDIT: It's time for me to update my two year old review. Still serving excellent Industry Beans coffee and delicious food. The quality of the produce has never been in question. What is a delight is seeing a café that once had enormous teething problems now in top gear and running like clockwork. The FOH staff are knowledgeable and have a confidence to run the floor that they didn't exhibit a couple of years ago. Be adventurous and try some of the filter coffee options. Busy, so either come at quieter times or be patient whilst the crew do all they can to help. Fantastic job guys.
