Wilsons Road Fish Shop Geelong — Restaurant in Victoria

Personally believe this is the best fish and chip shop in the Geelong region, super friendly service, family run and high standards of quality. Like most food service establishments, on busy nights you may not get the %100 you expect but on their more quiet nights their food is exceptional, well priced and plenty on offer. Their batter is a standout, their chips are always the perfect amount of crunch and soft. Potato cakes are hands down the BEST in the Geelong region. Burgers are Old school and a great serving size, souvlakis are simple and delicious. The only negative critique I’d have is the processed calamari rings, whilst still delicious I believe real calamari would be absolutely banging in their batter. Still well deserving of a 5 star overall. Great spot to get ya...

We got a medium gravy chip, hamburger in batter, small chip, and a savaloy. The savaloy is actually a battered savaloy (which we didn't want or anticipate). The batter across all items was not nice. It was too thick and doughy. Chippies should (and usually do, in Australia and also the UK) have crispy batter. The hamburger in batter should have a nice crispy batter, but instead this had a thick doughy soft batter. Same for the battered savaloy, chewy batter. The gravy was very thin (watery) and wasn't tasty at all. So if you want a doughy chewy batter, you will love this place, but it's not for me. Also, update the menu to state...

Staff I dealt with were amazing thus the reason for the 3 and not a 2.

I am really disappointed in the quality of food I got guven the reviews I saw. The chips were super soggy (I like crunch) and undercooked. There was virtually no cheese, no extra salt but there was a lot of gravy.

The cardboard container they came in became floppy before I got back to where I was staying. They don't just do a scoop of chips, it is medium or large which to me was weird. Also what I consider a small amount of chips for a medium and what turned out to be $7.85 with card fees.

The prices on Google are nowhere near right just...
