Zambrero Ballarat — Restaurant in Victoria

This order never arrived. Appalling service. 11:45 placed order for 2 x burrito IQ (exactly the same) via Menulog app. 1:15 Called the restaurant. Was told by the person who answered that it was on it's way: "oh that definitely just left" 2:30 Still no delivery. Called the restaurant again - no answer. 2:35 Called the restaurant again - no answer but got a message bank and asked for a call back. Approx 3:30 engaged menulog help. The whole time Menulog order status was telling us 'driver is waiting to collect order' so it was definitely not taken to an incorrect address.

As it was never delivered, the food quality rating isn't a valid measure, but I'm not given a NA option. I'm also not given a 'never arrived' option.

I expect Menulog must have marked the order 'delivered' because they gave us a credit for the order. Or someone at the store has lied again.

I received no apology for the order being missed. I was lied to by staff instead of then just apologising and making the order late (which would have appeased us) and the staff appear to have screened and avoided my calls to avoided the issue. I hope whoever answered that call at 1:15 yesterday/Saturday (and chose to lie and avoid) learns to take some responsibility for...

Partner and I came here for dinner last Wednesday, it seemed rather busy but we decided to wait the 20 minutes to get from the door to the counter. When we finally did get to the counter the staff cooked the tortilla and left it sitting for another 5 minutes as the staff overlooked our order and served 6 other customers, to the point where one staff member decided to move our order onto the back counter for more space for the order of someone about 4 people further back in line. At least when we brought the problem up to the staff they got to making the rest of our order rather quickly. However once my partner ate her Burrito she began to feel I'll and on the verge of throwing up. I understand that it was a busy night and from the looks of it most of the staff who were on that night were new or Christmas Casuals but even so I believe that there should have been more training done outside of hours so all staff could efficiently work their part of the production process. I cannot in good faith reccomend their restaurant on busy nights, perhaps it is different during the day or on quiet days however it is not worth the 35 minute wait and risk of food poisoning...

Basically, this restaurant is the Aussie version of Chipotle. The restaurant is clean and staff are friendly. If you have a food allergy to onions, use caution - the flavours and ingredients are often mixed and touched. As far as flavour, it's good - but far from Mexican. I've found this is a typical problem in Australia because Aussies seem to use Indian curry in a large majority of their dishes - which is not even remotely appropriate. I was entertained by watching the rolling of burritos. It's just not something that is common in this country and I could probably do it in my sleep. Guacamole had a good texture but not too much flavour. I still have no clue why the sour cream had seeds in it. Taste wasn't bad but this should be advertised as "Aussie-Mex" as it is a far cry from Mexican.... Which I know first hand because well, I'm Mexican. When in the mood for Indian-Mex-Aussie fusion, I could return. But I'll stick to making real Mexican at home in...
