Was really disappointing. Very pricey for mediocre food. We have been to many Thai restaurants before with much higher quality food and lower prices than this.

We ordered the pad thai, chilli basil noodle, chilli fried rice, and tom yum soup. The pad thai was average and was rather wet. The chilli basil noodle and the tom yum soup was also pretty average and unimpressive. The chilli fried rice was the only good thing out of the four but it's nothing exciting and not worth the price. The vegetables in the dishes were also awfully big and inconvenient to eat.

The service was not good. When the tom yum soup arrived, they didn't even bring the brown rice that we ordered with the dish until later on. When they brought the noodle dishes out, they didn't even come with utensils. The only utensils that were set on the table were forks and knives! How do you expect someone to eat noodles with a fork and knife?!! So unauthentic.... Fork and knives at a Thai restaurant!! What more, they had several staffs there and only a few other customers, but they were slow to attend to us. Then, as we were just about finish our meal, they seemed to be in a hurry to collect our dishes for some reason. One of us was still drinking the tom yum soup, but they collected up the other dishes anyways. And in a pitiful attempt to be polite they asked if we were done with the soup and rice even though they had already taken away the fork and spoon!! If we weren't done with it, how do you expect us to finish it without utensils?!!

In summary, the food was pretty basic and boring, the dishes were definitely not worth the price, and the service was pitiful, leaving us...

This is an edit to my review below as since the review the owner responded as well as reimbursed the $12, which I find commendable. The business has taken responsibility for the errors in its systems and we will continue to order from this restaurant in the future. Thanks!

Disappointed with this restaurant. We've eaten from here quite a bit and the food is generally very tasty and generous. However, my last experience has left a bad taste. 2 weeks ago I ordered online and chose the option to pick up later, selecting an hour later but when I clicked on it's progress 20 minutes later it stated it was ready!! Why bother having the pick up later option if it's just going to be made when you order anyway, so it's not freshly cooked when picked up. My husband then collected it & once home realised the duck pancakes were missing, so I rang and they said that a reimbursement would get paid back within 5 or 6 days. I waited 13 days, then rang to follow up and she asked me to go in and pick it up. I went in today and she went out the back and came back after a while with pancakes! I said I wanted the money but she looked at me blankly so I had no choice but to take the pancakes (which were tiny for $12!! ) Makes me wonder, we're they ever going to reimburse my credit card or were they hoping I'd forget. So annoyed as the food is normally...

A quiet but very warm and welcoming restaurant. I opted for the mixed entree (from left to right curry puff, mini spring roll, fish cake and satay chicken skewer), followed by the roasted duck curry accompanied by roti. The first 3 entree pieces were delicious, the curry puff having a reasonable kick and being well stuffed. The mini spring roll was crisp with no moisture you often get, the sweet chilli sauce as you'd expect, though I suspect it's straight from a bottle. The fish cake was crisp and not dry, however the skewer was disappointing. The chicken was rectangular, bland and resembled a pale banana fritter, and the satay, while flavoursome, simply wouldn't stick to the chicken.

The duck curry was a treat, a healthy bit of warmth without detracting from the ingredients inside. The roti mopped up the lovely broth well and the vegetables were tenderly cooked. The duck was juicy, though if anything a tiny bit stringy but still quite enjoyable. Thoroughly...

I visited Brown Grain a few years ago and it was annoying me that I knew it wasn’t in Ballarat but after researching I learnt it was in Warrnambool and the owners sold that business and it became Red Spoon. Back then I recall telling my partner it was one of the best Thai places I’d dined at. Fast forward to tonight and they are in Ballarat and it was just as I remember. The attentive service by the young ladies was great from the moment I walked in. I was greeted and asked where I’d like to sit. Given a menu and water and took my order when I was ready. My roti came out super hot and was delicious with the satay sauce. I did have to wait a while for my main which was Massaman Lamb and coconut on the side but they were quite busy with a few big groups that were there before me. In saying that, the roti came out really quick and was able to tide me over. My main was beautiful, lamb was tender and a decent size too. Banana Fritters were a treat as well. Will be back!
