Hey, just a little review to let you know that I am disappointed in the way in which my family was treated by the bar staff on Saturday. We popped in with some friends for a quick drink as the Mardi Gras parade ended. There were around 20 or so people in the birdhouse at this time, so it hadn’t quite kicked off in there yet. I placed my order at the bar and the first employee poured the beer and brought it over. As I was going to pay, another employee came over and abruptly and rudely informed us that there are to be no children in the bar this afternoon. Her language was not friendly or polite. Our 10 month old son was sitting quietly in his pram, so it’s not like we were “those people”. We left disheartened and continued on to the party in the gardens.
As we walked home half an hour later, we looked in the birdhouse to see it was packed. There were four or five children running around inside. If you’re going to be rude and kick us out, fine, but at least be consistent with your “rules” which we were told were made specifically for this particular afternoon/night.
We have been in there previously with our son in the afternoon with no issues whatsoever. Why you chose to not receive our patronage tonight is very unclear.
Thanks for the good times you’ve given us in the past, but this interaction left us feeling...
Read moreSomewhat disappointed after our Sunday evening dinner experience. While seated after ordering and paying for our meals, a staff member informed us the cutlets were not available. No worries from our end - we were happy to change it to the steak. However, this resulted in the steak coming out a lot later than all the other meals. It also arrived without a major element (the pea puree), as did the Katsu bowl. The Katsu bowl arrived with plain rice (not sticky) and no Asian greens. The issue here was that there was no explanation provided by the kitchen or staff. We let a wait staff know the meals were not as described in the menu, and asked for some substitutes, as after all, we were paying full price for them both. They provided us with some mash, which unfortunately arrived when the meals where pretty much finished, and a free cocktail - which was delicious and much appreciated. I didn't want the side salad that was offered, so gave my thanks-but-no-thanks and left it at that. Lastly, the portion of salt and pepper squid was very small in relation to the price. I just wanted to give a bit of honest feedback as we do love this place and try to support it whenever we are in town.
The spiced mojito however ROCKED.....
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at the Birdy Bar, where I experienced an unforgettable blend of ambiance and... well, let's just say, customer service. Upon utilizing the QR code system to place our order, we found ourselves in a state of anticipation that rivaled waiting for a bird to sing. Despite waiting patiently for over 30 minutes, our order seemed to have taken flight into the ether of technological malfunctions. To add a sprinkle of irony to the mix, when we dared to inquire about the whereabouts of our missing libations, we were met with a response that could only be described as avant-garde rudeness. The bartender, in a stroke of brilliance, decided to grace us with the line, 'I think you're wrong' before flitting away like a bird avoiding a predator. Thankfully, armed with evidence in the form of receipts, we managed to ground his flight of denial. Yet, much to our chagrin, an apology never soared from his lips. So, if you're in the mood for a cocktail of passive aggression and unapologetic service, the Birdy Bar might just be the...
