Frankies is a burst of Melbourne in the country, it's a pity they don't have more competition as their level of customer service is poor. After being seated for brunch we were not offered a coffee and they didn't come back for 15min. After waving down a waitress we secured a coffee and meal order. Coffee was good. However, after 40min and no sign of food or anyone checking on us we still couldn't get anyones attention, even though we were seated right next to the kitchen. It's like they are trained in customer avoidance. People next to us came, ordered, ate and left before we had our food. After complaining, they decided to ignore us and it was almost impossible to get some help. I got my own cutlery, hot sauce was weak and overall it was a poor experience compared to Melbourne. A simple, "I'm sorry and have a free coffee" would have pacified us, but they chose to justify that we ordered a meal that takes ages. You don't win an argument with a customer. Perhaps we just got them on a bad day.
Update 10th March 2019 - I thought I would give them another try as I was keen for a coffee and they were open. That's one of their plusses, they are pretty much open anytime.
The downside is the coffee was hotter than the sun, which means burnt milk and tasteless coffee. Plus the crema looked like the 1980's where they use to scoop the top of the foam and call it a latte. Now we know better and it's the high part of the milk. Regardless of semantics, the coffee was bad enough I didn't even drink it and went to the pub instead.
Update - 27thSept19 - open grand final holiday and got served by the boss man. This time great service as it should be. The coffee and food was reliable and top notch presentation. Glad to see the Improvements, keep up...
Read moreI recently attended this establishment, and whilst I am typically met with delicious and fulfilling meals today was far below the standards they have made. We ordered a ffc burger and banana bread whilst the burger was average, the banana bread was disappointing. It was small and dismal, and had ingredients that were not disclosed, such as seeds on the crust of the bread. Whilst I am understanding of the fact that food has variation and can differ, this was completely different to what the table next to us had whom had ordered the same dish; which had much larger and fulfilling pieces of bread. Whilst were assured by the servers that this was indeed the main serving size of the dish, and were offered an additional piece of the dismal bread to compensate, it was still a disappointing experience for a once excellent restaurant. For a chain restaurant that shares many locations, with very minimal variations in product, this was completely different to what was being served at other Frankie restaurants, as well as the table next to us. We understand if product had run out due to the high demand of the once delicious bread, but please inform customers of this, don't greet your loyal customers with a...
Read moreReally disappointed to see how far Frankies has slipped over the years. We used to come here constantly years back, but they slowly introduced surcharges to everything and raised prices. We came here today as we were visiting the area and wanted to come back here for nostalgia; they do huge milkshakes that I always got when I came here, filled to the brim and really tasty. I got my milkshake today and I was so annoyed, it was barely over half filled. Are you serious? The only reason I came was for the giant shakes and you half filled the cup? This is a small thing but for me the last straw, it represents a company who doesn't give a damn and is just looking to scrap by and cut every corner to get as much money as possible. I won't be back, why should I when other smaller cafes give me what I pay for and aren't eager to short-change me? Such a disappointment, what a disheartening visit to a place we...
