WGG is an amazing place, somewhat like Dr Who's Tardis. The humble and moderately sized storefront leads you into a large, long property that houses an impressive gift shop, spacious cafe and, hence the name, a varied and unique nursery section.
We arrived on the dot of 2pm and, unfortunately, were told the kitchen had just closed. The awesome staff, however, went to the chef, twisted his little rubbery arm and, before we knew it, we were graced with 60 magical seconds in which to order.
We decided on a Fritter Stack and the Pork & Peach Salad, accompanied by a large serve of Sweet Potato Fries (and with a much appreciated large serve of aioli!). Drinks consisted of a chai latte and a flat white.
Without going into too much detail, every aspect of our lunch was excellent. The meals were well portioned, had ingredients aplenty and were very tasty. The cuppas were also really good.
Lunch was followed by a wander through the nursery. Again, this facet of the business was impressive and strangely entertaining. The clever use of props and buildings has created a an experience that blends plant shopping with art, imagination and childlike pleasure. I'm not the green thumb in the family yet really enjoyed my wander through the aisles. And let's not forget the gelato and dress shops that reside at the very rear of the property!
Upon exiting, we browsed through the gift shop which contained a variety of items and, although we didn't make a purchase, it was only through sheer willpower!
Overall, our WGG adventure surpassed our expectations. The staff were lovely, the food was fantastic and the nursery was surprisingly fun (as well as providing a handful of different plants that we...
Read moreAt the youthful age of 60, I can confidently say that I've savoured the best breakfast of my life. Upon our visit to Warwick, I indulged in what they call the 'carnivore's breakfast' or 'big breakfast', and it was nothing short of extraordinary.
Every element on the plate was perfection personified. From the two perfectly cooked eggs to the three generous rashers of crispy bacon, the culinary mastery was evident. But the highlights didn't stop there. A big old handful of mouth-watering pulled pork and a juicy, tender steak weighing a magnificent 200 grams were all part of this feast.
Accompanied by flavourful baked beans, fresh mushrooms, succulent tomatoes, crispy fried potato cubes, and beautifully toasted bread, the meal was a symphony of taste and texture. Just check out the photo; it tells a story of culinary excellence that sustained me all day long.
Was it substantial? Indeed, it was. I was so full afterwards that I pondered if a slightly smaller portion would have satisfied me just as well. However, this minor detail does not detract from the fact that it was the best breakie I've ever enjoyed. The chefs truly outdid themselves. Well done!
And that's not all. The adjoining nursery was a revelation, brimming with spectacular and quirky items waiting to be discovered and cherished. It's a treasure trove that truly adds to the experience.
Whether you're a local or a visitor in Warwick, this place is a must-visit. It’s not just a meal; it's an experience that nourishes the soul. The ambiance, the food, the nursery - everything echoes a level of finesse and warmth that's rare to...
Read moreI am incredibly disappointed with the service we received at Gardens Galore today from there staff that were on. We called ahead to confirm a table for 11 people and mentioned we would be bringing three dogs. We were assured they could accommodate us. When we arrived, however, we were told they couldn’t set up a table outside for our group, so my husband and I had to move the tables ourselves to make room for our family. A staff member then came over and asked, “Do you need help with that?” I found this very dismissive and unhelpful.
The real issue, though, came when the rain began pouring heavily just as our food arrived. We had our two golden retrievers and a German shepherd with us, sitting outside. I politely asked if we could bring the dogs just inside, near the door, to avoid the heavy rain, and was bluntly told “no.” While I understand policies, this was a situation where some understanding and flexibility could have gone a long way, especially with the heavy rain and our food already served. Instead, my husband and father-in-law ate their meals outside in the pouring rain, while several other customers inside commented on how unfair the situation was for us.
As a business owner myself, I believe in showing empathy, flexibility and understanding when situations like this arise. Unfortunately, the staff at Gardens Galore showed neither today, and we won’t...
