Caffe Amaretto — Restaurant in Western Australia

Dinner time after a heavy week at work. My partner and I decided to go out for dinner to our local Café Amaretto. We have never been there and were looking forward for a simple, nicely cooked tasty Italian meal. We were immediately greeted at the door and directed to a table ready for 2. Points to that. Service by the waitress was prompt and even the owner approached us for a brief conversation. Until this point we were quite impressed with the attention and service. Everything started crumbling after receiving the dishes: aglio olio pasta (ordered al dente), grilled calamari and a pasta carbonara + 2 Aperol Spritz(nothing wrong with this one) I cannot remember ever in my life leaving pasta behind on a plate during a meal and unfortunately that’s exactly what happened. This is the thing with pasta, if you pay premium price like in this case, you would expect something you can’t cook yourself at home. I am normal person with no special cooking skills, except 20 years working in hospitality I surely could cook a pasta dish 10 fold better than what I was served. Regret of leaving home hit at this point. Overall all dishes were overcooked, tasteless and greasy. No quality or love in the cooking. Not to mention overpriced. Same bill as we would have paid in other favourite Italian restaurants around Perth where you really receive a bang for your buck. My mistake not raising the issue when paying the bill, but the dissatisfaction was so great I was still processing. It is a shame as we would love this to be a finding and return every so often. Food is good from what I remember but the service is terrible. We arrive, the 2 Italian ladies tell us to sit anywhere, we wait for one of them to come serve us for a good 15 minutes, then try to get their attention where the dark haired lady looks and ignores us. We leave as we don't feel welcome. This is the second time this has happened and I mentioned it to the owner the last time this happened. It's the dark haired Italian lady if you want to know. She chooses who she will be friendly with and who she won't. My mum, my partner and me have no idea why she is like this to us as we are polite and happy when entering and polite and respectful to you guys. I'm not going to tell you how to run your business but I wouldn't want someone with this attitude working for me. At best maybe she'd be good as a bouncer with that attitude. We watched her be cheerful and happy with other patrons but not with us. The last experience was the same where it upset my mum and ruined our experience and that was my birthday celebration at your restaurant. I chose not to leave feedback, but chose to speak to the owner and still came back hoping to have a good experience, unfortunately I don't think I would want to return. Caffe Amaretto offer great service, great food, good portions for the price and as far as I am concerned they make the best garlic bread I have ever tasted. I also like the relaxed atmosphere and my Mum's favourite meal is their Lamb shanks that fall off the bone. Mine is a Chicken in Mango and cream. Thankyou to all the staff that always make us feel welcome too. Looking at other reviews I can't believe they are commenting on the same Cafe I love to go to. Give them another try because every time I have been I have no complaints at all. Perhaps it is because I haven't been on a busy weekend day. Not sure why some are not happy with the staff either because they have always treated me and my family with utmost respect. I remember one time it was my 50th and my brother couldn't sit on normal chairs because he had injured his knee very badly and the staff found an Office chair perfect for him.
