Cottesloe Beach Club — Restaurant in Cottesloe

Went on a Tuesday night so was pretty quiet when we arrived. Wait staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered a pizza and asked for a side salad. Was told “the chefs won’t do anything that’s not on the menu” even though there were salads that came with other dishes on the menu. As a lay person I’d probably just accept this explanation but as a chef myself I knew how easy a request it was.. it appears the kitchen staff are simply not customer focussed and can’t really be bothered. My friend ordered a lamb dish and once again a request to omit one ingredient was made and the waitress seemed quite apprehensive about asking the chef (are their chefs that unapproachable?) The menu stated that meals would be brought out when they are ready rather than all together which we didn’t really mind. My pizza came out 20 minutes later. My friends dish came out over an hour later, well after I had completely finished. I understand having a time difference for different stations but that was just ridiculous. We had to ask for our drinks twice even though we could see the bar staff standing around talking with no customers. The waitress was lovely and we could see she was trying her best. Makes me wonder if the kitchen and bar staff aren’t very supportive of team work. Was it absolutely terrible? No. Would I go back? No, I’d rather just try somewhere else.. not really worth giving it another go when there are so many other places to...

I have been numerous times for lunch previously and the food has been good (usually but not always) but service hit and miss. Booked lunch for my Uncle’s and my birthday. Was really looking forward to the booking after reviewing the menu. The service and the food were beyond bad! We were ignored after ordering first drinks, having to try and gain attention to place an order for our food. After placing our order we were completely ignored. Tables around us that arrived after us were provided with intermittent service but staff were barely visible and certainly not providing service to us. After waiting for our food for over an hour (2 x salads; tacos; cuttlefish; kingfish crudo) I attempted to find someone to ask when we could expect our food. We were told 5 minutes in an off hand manner. 15 minutes later no food. By the time we got our food ( not overly busy Friday lunch) the tacos were cold and the two salads were 1) a plate of grated cabbage 2) a plate of couscous!! Kingfish crudo never came and was never mentioned by staff. At bill payment time (and prior to this) we complained about service and food. No allowance was made to the bill and no apology. Thursday 21st October I took two friends to the back bar at Cottesloe Beach Club where I have been many many times. I ordered fish and chips (simple what could go wrong) the fish was hot and very good, the chips were cold (another friend who also was there at the same time said the same thing so it wasnt just me) I motioned the waiter over and he said no problem I will get you another side of chips. Out came a very large bowl of chips, they were hot in heat but they were also hot in taste. I mentioned to the manager that the chips I couldnt eat as they were hot to taste, he said they sprinkle chilli over them (I am allergic to chilli) he said very sorry he would get another out to me. Finished my fish and a couple of glasses of wine and I went over to the servery in the kitchen spoke to yet another person who said they would follow up. Ended up leaving no chips in sight, no follow up. To top it all off the bar service was so slow as both barmen were making cocktails.
