Probably one of the only places in Perth that deserves a 5/5 star rating here is why. Positives: -Hikky (the owner/operator) is friendly and welcoming, one of the nicest people i have met. He talks to you like a friend would and he cooks with passion and love so when you eat the food of a friend it tastes that much better. -The Interior is well furnished with a style that makes you feel like you have entered someones cozy house. -The menu although small is well presented and priced. It might cost a little extra than the average for the same dish however Hikky makes up for that in serving size and quality -Hikkys Bread is the crowning jewel of the store. He has the best kebabs in Perth because of this amazing bread he uses, along with delicious meats he prepares. -The "Hikky Snack Pack" is one of the most value for money meals i have ever had, I sometimes struggle to finish if i haven't brought a decent appetite. -Hikky is also considered a coffee master and makes wonderful lattes.
Negatives: -The store can get a bit hot sometimes -The location is somewhat out of the way/hidden
In summary Babylon Cafe & Grill is my favourite restaurant due to the immaculate customer service, amazing coffee and bread, as well as the best kebabs and HSP's in Perth. You go to Babylon Cafe & Grill for the food but you stay for Hikky who will undoubtedly become a friend. A well deserved 5/5...
Read moreI'm baffled at how this place has such a high rating The moment we entered I knew something wasn't right, as there was no meat cooking on the two spits , which in any kebab shop is for beef and the other chicken. I could see them hurriedly cooking the meat on the grill instead but the meat was already cooked. It was quite obvious that the meat was cooked and put in the cool room, then brought out to reheat and serve. Dispute this, the kebabs were just warm but also dry, clearly because the juice has already gone from the first time it was cooked. The rice was obviously precooked and reheated also. There were parts that were clumped together, like when you take it out leftovers in a container from the fridge, and heated. The chips were also very average. The only way you can screw up chips is either re-cooking it or with tired, old oil that needs replacing.
The young lady who works there was frantically trying to keep customers happy and apologising profusely for the long waits. She was lovely but the owner was constantly berating her. I struggled to keep myself from having words with him about is food and his attitude. It was the worst $110 I've...
Read moreService is excellent and so friendly. Restaurant is nice and clean. We had 2 x Bowls Of Awesomeness, one with chicken one with Falafel & 1 x Maqluba, plus family chips & complimentary Pita Bread. Partner really enjoyed the Maqluba, chips were nice and crunchy. After looking at the menu on-line to make this review we realised that the Bowls were both missing chickpeas, one bowl missing tomato and both bowls missing couscous. The bowls were still good but we can only imagine how much more awesome they would have been and also more value for money, if these things were not missing. Homemade Hummus is exceptional! Plenty of parking. Added note- Going by the menu prices we were either over charged or charged $18 for two bottles of coke, or we were charged for Pita bread that we did not order. Pretty sure I viewed current menu prices. With the missing ingredients etc I am two minds of whether it was worth...
