Johnny's Quality Fish Bar — Restaurant in Western Australia

Update (2024): I've been going back this year. They have some off days but it's more or less the same as I rated it many moons ago. I've had 💩 fish n chips, Johnny's is not that.

UPDATE (DEC 2018): In the past couple of months, the quality has really dropped. Every time my family and I go there, there seems to be new faces amongst the staff. One person who started new about 3 months ago, was happy and smiley when they served orders, but after only a few weeks, it seemed like the life had been sucked out of them. Why has there been such a turnover of staff? Also, we've had too many orders that have definitely not lived up to the way they were when I originally reviewed (and had been consistent with until recently). Lukewarm chips, undercooked and/or soggy/greasy fish.

They've lost a regular customer with my family.

Fish , prawns , chips 5/5 , very very good , couldn’t beat it . Service 1/5, ordered verbally 4 times at counter, young guy just kept getting it wrong - I then helped him write order , I’m starting to get concerned. An assistant cleaning up was laughing and shaking his head at colleague . Asked if I wanted salt and vinegar and I said I will do that at home as we are not getting on well re order . Was paying with $50 note ( in hand held out) but got presented with card machine which I pretended to swipe with my $50 note as it was ridiculous . Then as picking up food I’m one portion short to be told they had put with my fish order - I explained the single chips were for someone who doesn’t eat fish … I just said thanks , Jonny’s won I lost . Date Thursday 15/9/2022 -7 pm , Como. But.. product was good , easily solved re staff . The order - prawn n chips, special fish n chips, fish no chips , chips...

If I could give 10 stars I would. There's a saying to never buy fish on a Monday, well this is an exception. They were only open for ten more minutes and I can suggest that this is the best fish and chips I have eaten in Australia - and being Kiwi and a chef I am well qualified to comment. I ordered the Spanish mack, and a seafood basket for $26, and was fresh, crispy and enough easily for two adults, plenty of chips and @$13 a head what a bargin for quality! The shop was immaculate, staff professionally presented and friendly. Do yourself a favour and drive the distance if need be you will not regret Well done...
