I will be sharing the same Review from yesterdays experiences from Tao Joondalup and Kulcha Joondalup:
Iv'e been to the Tao at Whitfords which is usually pretty good so when we went to the Joondalup Tao my partner, we were beyond disappointed in the experience. After a long wait we went down the road to Kulcha (Next restaurant down). To compare the experiences I will include BOTH restaurants here.
Tao Service: Sat to our seats almost immediately however as other patrons arrived we sat there for nearly 30 minutes as other tables were served, including guests arriving after us. Tried signalling the servers as they walked past and finally got annoyed after 30 minutes when they were idle behind the counter. They were not in a dinner rush as there were 4 other tables and three wait staff on.
Kulcha Service: Seated strait away and within five minutes our order was taken. The restaurant was at half capacity at this point. We were checked on even during the mass dinner rush to make sure everything was okay and when we finished our mains they remembered to come up and asked if we were ready for desert in which we were, excellent memory and service.
Tao Cleanliness: Table was sticky and there was a smell i could not identify. As a worker in the cleaning industry this was most concerning as it was a smell I have smelt before.
Kulcha: Clean tables and clean toilets. They take pride in their work.
Tao Food and Prices: My partner and I know they charge more than average but we accept it due to the variety, whenever we go to Whitfords we usually end up spending around $100 on food and drinks for the two of us. We didn't spend a single dollar here or touch the sushi train due to no service.
Kulcha Prices: Great prices and descent serving sizes. Food came out steaming hot and was very good. Their Banana and Nutella Spring rolls with Ice cream is a unique desert which is beyond amazing and worth the horrible experience of Tao Joondalup to find this wonderful creation at Kulcha.
Overall: Tao Joondalup: A 4.2 star rating on Tao Joondalup is deceptive and beyond inaccurate. Although I can not rate the food 100% due to not eating there I did notice some items seemed pre made such as the deserts. Save your time and money and walk an extra 20 steps to a better establishment.
Kulcha: An amazing experience, we will be coming here in future as we are usualy at Whitfords once a fortnight. The disappointment on Tao Joondalup has lowered our faith in even the Whitfords establishment.
TLDR: Tao...
Read moreI recently visited Kalcha Chinese restaurant in Joondalup and had an average dining experience. While there were some positive aspects, there were also areas that need improvement.
On the positive side, the food at Kalcha Chinese restaurant was enjoyable. The flavors were generally good, although some dishes were sweeter than expected. The menu offered a variety of options, showcasing the diverse range of Chinese cuisine. It’s evident that the chef has skill in crafting traditional flavors and creating delicious dishes.
However, I must mention a couple of areas that need attention. Firstly, the cleanliness of the dishes was below expectations. I noticed dirt and residue on some plates, which was off-putting. Maintaining a clean dining environment is crucial for a pleasant experience, and I hope the restaurant takes steps to address this issue.
Secondly, the sweetness level in some dishes was too high for my liking. While taste preferences can vary, a more balanced approach to sweetness would cater to a wider range of customers. Offering options or allowing customization in terms of sweetness levels could greatly enhance the dining experience.
In conclusion, Kalcha Chinese restaurant offers enjoyable food, but there are areas that require improvement. The cleanliness of the dishes and the sweetness level of certain dishes need attention. I would recommend the management to address these concerns in order to provide a better dining experience for their customers.
I rate my overall experience at Kalcha Chinese restaurant as a 3 out of 5. With some adjustments, I believe the restaurant has the potential to elevate its dining experience and attract a more satisfied...
Read moreUpdate: went to resolve this with the restaurant this morning after they opened, and they were happy to provide a replacement meal. The meal was good, so I've fixed my rating accordingly. I would be hesitant to recommend Kulcha for vegans, though, unless you can double check the meals at the restaurant before you take them home (or are eating at the restaurant.)
Otherwise, the restaurant is very clean and it looks like they're keeping up with best hygiene practices. Staff are good and friendly but ensure your order has been recorded properly.
Ordered the vegan udon and the vegan mee Goreng. The udon was good but the mee Goreng came with fish/oyster sauce and egg/chicken. I'm likely going to be quite sick as a result. This is after I confirmed twice with the person taking the order that it was vegan for both, and she confirmed that it was. I tried calling the restaurant (before listed closing time) with no answer, and so I drove to the restaurant with the offending meal, getting there before listed closing time to find they were shut. Quite frustrated as I am also unable to contact the restaurant about this on Facebook, so I'm forcd to write a poor review for a business that has usually...
