Oct 2020 update: Seems like the owners have changed, it's not as good anymore. Menu changed and everything is $1 - $1.50 more expensive, flavours are mostly similar but the karaage chicken which was once the best in Perth is now just average, it doesn't taste like the chicken has been marinated. The katsu curry is also a bit spicier than before, so if you can't handle spice at all then avoid. The lovely Japanese staff have been replaced by all Chinese staff, they are friendly but service is a lot slower and the staff spend a lot of time in the kitchen area loudly joking in Chinese and cackling with laughter. At one point one of them came up and looked under our table, shouted something in Chinese to the others and they all laughed, but left without a word to us which was a bit weird and uncomfortable. Food was served with a loud bang on the table too, and overall staff seem a bit careless and a little rude.
Overall the price increases and the disappointing karaage make this place no longer amazing but just average, maybe time to find a new favourite. This place is awesome! Super cheap ramen, only $6.50 for "The Boy", which is a full sized bowl of shoyu ramen. All the ramen extra toppings were super reasonable too, only 50c for nori etc. You can also choose between normal or spinach noodles, and there's free refills of noodles if you have soup left. We didn't even need the free noodles, the serving size was perfect. Loved the karaage chicken, super juicy and tasty for also only $6.50. We came during the weekend for lunch and it was mostly empty, but we saw nonstop Uber Eats orders going out. Highly recommend for a quick bite if you're...
Read moreHaving read few bad reviews I was not very comfortable going there but did went there as my friend insist. First experience was not bad at all. Great value for money.
However when I just went back there again yesterday things were pretty different. When two of us walked in they looked at us but did not do anything. So figured we'd find a table ourselves and order some foods. I did notice many of the table were "Reserved" but there were way too many of them so I figured they did it so that customers don't sit at those particular tables.
We ordered Cheesy egg plant, spicy ramen, and Katsu with rice. Cheesy egg plant was not bad, and ramen was also okay. Katsu however did ruin the whole meal. It came with 5 small slices of katsu with stone cold rice. I can tell the rice came out of the fridge(Probably from a day before.) as it was cold and hard. they did not heat it up enough in microwave. Kept thinking if it really worth $5.90 while eating it but NO! I did not complain as seeing how two young staff did not even bother to welcome or to seat the customer, and figured complaining to them won't do anything. With lack of care towards food handling and customer service I wouldn't be surprise they actually did caused food poisoning which I found on older reviews.
I may give another try but for now my experience with them has been disappointing. No...
Read moreAt approximately 1400hrs on 14Nov23, I was eating my bowl of kimchi ramen when I decided to add more sesame to my bowl. As I was shaking the stainless steel sesame canister, two cockroaches feel into my bow. One got drowned in the hot soup and another ran out of the bowl.
I informed a staff member and she dealt with the runaway cockroache and then took the bowl away. Not sure what she did with it but she brought back the same bowl with the dead cockroach in there to me, expecting me to continue eating.
I am appalled by the lack of food safety training to their staff. Even the more senior staff look unfazed and just took away the sesame container (which was left there by the first staff) when I told him what happened. Nobody attempted to check all the other sesame shaker for cockroaches.
This is very bad. If that's the attitude with cockroach infestation in the dining room, I can't imagine what's going on inside the kitchen.
I'm posting this here because I have attempted to give this feedback through their Facebook page and didn't even get an...
