20241101 Don't laugh but thos us becoming a regular haunt. My friend and I couldn't wait to return. We were famished and hit the noodles, focused, once they arrived. Forget the talking! 😂
Once again, this Uncle did not disappoint. I drooled over the Bak choy mee I had previously so my friend ordered that, and agreed her grandma could have minced the pork balls with a chopper. She wasn't as impressed as I was with the rest.
I finally ordered the ginger shallot steamed chicken with noodles. The flavours beat all other chicken places, including Ten Ten, hands down. The fried shallots taste freshly fried, not ordered prepared from some overseas market. The bak poh was perfect; sesame oil fragran 20241025 Yes, back again. It was packed, with a group already waiting outside. We chatted about our cravings as I uhmed and ahhed about which delectable dish I should sample. I opted for the Bak Chor Mee on impulse. I had planned to order the ginger chicken noodles but the special menu was up so I thought, 'Why not?'
Bak Chor Mee: Vinegar and chilli sambal based dry noodle, served with pork slices, pork meatball, pork liver and pork mince.
I waited outside. A waitress came out to assist with seating others and checked if I was waiting for a table or takeaway. They were really warm towards the hungry queue. I finally got my BCM and raced home.
On the second mouthful, I was reported back to my childhood with flavours of fresh fried shallots, noodles with a nice chewy texture tossed through vinegar chor and sambal.
The pork was sliced just how my PorPor sliced it as large slivers. I imagined her mincing the pork with her chopper as I tasted the lightness in the mince. The liver was fresh and cooked just right; not tough. The pork meatball must have been made on the premises. The meal had home cooked flavours through it. I slumped it all up and wondered what I will try next!
20241018 So I've been craving the CKT since my last visit, and have just returned for another piping hot meal! I asked for less chilli and sat in my little corner happily shouting on my pods, as you do.
My CKT arrived brightly coloured with thin spring onion slices, chillies and fried shallots. Two prawns, oodles of chinese sausages and large slices of them too, fishball halves, chicken, choy sum, taugeh AND it fired me up to space. I'm usua6a no 8 heat girl but this felt like12!!!
I got a bowl of soup but couldnt really appreciate it as was too full. I think there was a hint of msg like most places, especially in the soups as I've awoken with a slight headache and thirst. It had pieces of pickled radish.
Satisfying and will be returning again. Love the vibe, old fashioned bowls, furnishing, and good old street food.
20241004 We got there on the dot at 530pm as we had read that it is a small place and is often packed. We did not regret doing that as the place filled really quickly with locals and regulars.
I ordered the CKT with chilli and my friend ordered the ginger shallot chicken rice. I found out I can order the ginger shallot chicken with noodles. Next time!!
The CKT was unreal! Piping hot, spicy hot, and full of wok hei and flavour from a generous array of ingredients. It looked attractive and tasted smoking good. There was the crunch from the taugeh, the spring onions and red chillies looked aesthetically pleasing. There were generous slices of Chinese sausage, egg and other bits of protein. The only negative was the chilli was way too hot for even me. I will ask for mild or medium next time. The plate left me interested in eating every bit of it. Oftentimes, CKT in Perth can be lack lustre in either flavour or ingredients (so you feel like eating a plateful of starch) but this one is a return for more experience.
My friend was also very pleased with the chicken which had real pieces of ginger with all its fibrous bits. They were generous with their chilli and we believe you can help yourself to free soup and water too.
The place is small but people come, eat and leave very quickly too. There is so MSG after effect so I will...
Read moreThe atmosphere was good during non-peak hours. It was noisy when this place was packed with patrons.
What a tasty meal! Very soft, fluffy, and aromatic flavoured coconut milk rice, freshly roasted peanuts with sprinkled salt, and crunchy deep-fried anchovies. Mild sambal with a well-balanced taste. Fresh cut cucumber and a half boiled egg. R4/5
Free hot soup with preserved vege flavour. Free few chilli based condiments. Helpful staff and friendly chef Long. (2024-06-26)
The taste of the big size deep fried fish wings was tasty. R4/5. Both the clear and milk based vermicelli with preserved vege and tomato soup were not bad, but lack of fish taste and Shoaxing cooking wine. R3.5/5. The braised pork belly and the big portion of the homemade noodles were tasty R4/5. The braise beef with rice was surprisingly not bad. R4/5 (2024-06-27)
The taste of the chicken rice was not bad, The portion was large. The drumstick was a bit overcooked. 3/5
The BBQ pork was sweet, and the noodles were dry. It will be good to remind the staff to have more gravy, although the hot free soup could be used to wet the dry noodles. R3/5. (2024-06-30)
One thing great about Uncle 6 is that the chefs are capable of customising the dish of the patron's desired dish. The taste of my customised mixed vege with hot egg sauce and fried vermicelli was not bad (R 3/5), the portion was good enough for me. (2024-07-10)
The fried meehon (or vermicelli) with pork oil has wok roasted taste. It was not dry and not salty. The dish came with a bit burned Chinese sausage, fish balls, a bit burned BBQ pork belly, chicken breasts, bean sprouts, and spring onions. The portion size was good. (R 3.8/5)
The Combination 2 meat rice dish was edible. The char siew was a bit over burned, and the taste of the chicken was acceptable. (R 3.5/5)....
Read morehad to sit outside once because tables inside were not very available at all. small establishment but oh well. still kinda burned outside from sun
got the ginger scallion chicken with noodles. very VERY flavorful and tender, i enjoyed its taste. noodles are nice but i tried with rice and it’s a lot better due to how it absorbs the flavor. the chili sauce they give is not too spicy so maybe i will add a little more next time.
i also had chili pan mee in the past, it’s definitely on the higher end of (and possibly still beyond) my spice tolerance. if you need to clear out your intestines in a rush i do recommend
most recently i dined in for the second time, and it was more proper of an experience. they have free hot soup and tea to refill! the soup is really flavorful and not too hot, whereas the tea is very hot.
i waited a fair bit for my bak chor mee (minus beansprout because i don’t like the texture okay) despite coming on open but the wait was very worth it. only $15, good spice level, full flavor, and great portion. dining in is very worth it so come early.
also this is the same location block that has gone through like 5 different iterations so i do suggest trying it before the...
