Large venue, great atmosphere, loud, and parking access is easy. The food was a range of surprises in generosity and flavour.

Surf & Turf I ordered medium-rare, it was on the rarer side but very well grilled. The steak had a flame grill char flavour that I don’t usually enjoy but in this case it was the perfect strength and the flavour made it the hero of the dish. Garlic Prawns & creamy sauce were noticeable only for the lack of flavour, small portioning of prawns and absence of garlic. Chips were well seasoned, light and not crunchy had an excellent texture, intriguing flavour and the only thing on the plate that matched well with the steak. The salad was fresh and almost forgettable but they did very well with the flavour and amount of dressing.

Entrees Garlic Bread looked on the smaller size but was great for texture, flavour, garlic strength and turned out to be a just the right amount. Cured Meat Plate was a good selection and was also surprisingly generous with meat portions.

Drinks I had a pint of Lemon Lime & Bitters which was well done and I’d go for sparkling water instead of tap/still water next time.

Service Service was excellent, we had a small miscommunication when ordering because of impending food envy. Thankfully the Staff were patient, lovely and quick.

Atmosphere It was on the louder side, understandably, as The Gate had more customers than I expected. Was actually a very fun and relaxing vibe, there was a few cold drafts but it was crazy rain and wind tonight so it was understandable.

Family I think families with younger teenagers and up could do this, any younger and I’d consider

So we have been doing Tuesday date night for a while now. Looking for good honest pub service and food. So this was our first visit here. Nice lay out nice vibe. Good set up in the sports bar. So I order our meals. The cheesy garlic bread and Korean chicken and I stated I wanted them as an entree. Our mains were the chicken burger and the chicken parmy but no out they all came together. Admittedly nice and quick service. I said to the girl who brought them out that we wanted our entrees separately..she rudely replies ... We don't do entrees or starter to the sports bar... By this time hubby is heading over angry that once again this simple task of providing an entree or starter as exactly that is impossible to get right I looked at her and wondered if she would go away and think about that idiotic statement. So you can serve me the food you call an entree/ starter but you just can't serve it as what it's advertised as an entree/starter 🤣🤣🤣 Ok dear think you may have got that wrong. However the food was really nice. Small downfall were the chips. Oil may have needed changing but the food overall was good. And the barman who apologised for his mistake for not holding the mains . Subject: Feedback Regarding Incident at The Gate Tavern

Dear Manager,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding an incident that occurred at your venue recently. I visited The Gate Tavern and ordered two drinks—vodka with orange juice. However, I was surprised when a female staff member called security and asked me to leave.

I acknowledge that I was speaking loudly, but this was simply because the music in the venue was loud, and I needed to ensure my order was heard. I believe the staff member may have misinterpreted my volume as shouting at her, which was not my intention. If she was tired or unable to serve drinks, I feel she should have communicated that instead of escalating the situation unnecessarily.

I would like to suggest that staff be more understanding and respectful towards customers. Additionally, better communication and attentiveness could help avoid similar misunderstandings in the future. I had only consumed two drinks—Jack Daniel’s Fire—and was not intoxicated.

I hope you take this feedback into consideration to improve customer service at The Gate Tavern. I would appreciate a response regarding this matter. I will surely visit again coz I love gate and the way(respectfully) security person treated me...
