Major health and safety warning - this restaurant is absolutely not safe for coeliacs or anyone sensitive to gluten. Ordered two servings of naan, one regular and one gluten free. The waitress brought them out in separate baskets and announced them as regular and gluten free, when I noticed that they looked identical and asked the waitress to confirm that the gluten free naan did not have gluten she admitted that the chef had ‘forgotten’ to use gluten free flour!!!! Yet they served it in a separate basket to the ‘regular’ naan and announced it as gluten free! When I explained that this is a serious allergy the waitress just said, ‘yes I know, but it just slipped the chef’s mind’. I then explained that this would easily put somebody in a serious condition in hospital and she just shrugged. No proper apology, no offer for a refund, just a shrug! They clearly do not care about people with specific dietary requirements ( how you can call yourself a vegan restaurant when you actually have to REQUEST dishes on the menu to be made vegan, I don’t understand) but they are willing to sell food they clearly know is loaded with allergens to a person who already struggles to dine out at a regular restaurant and would choose their establishment based on their promises of attention, all just to make a quick buck. Absolutely disgusted. Coeliacs and...

I appreciate this place for being vegan, I've defended it many times before, but I've had a few bad experience myself now so I'm changing this 5 star review, to a 2 star instead.

If you're gluten free, be very careful. They don't seem to actually understand gluten free. The chefs also dont speak or understand English. The other staff were having to translate, which if you have food reactions, isnt safe. One time you're told something is gluten free, the next time it's not. I can't risk it anymore.

My order has been incorrect about 3 times.

I've nearly been over charged about 3 times, check your bill.

What is with playing TV shop channels whilst people are eating? And many times there has been 1 song track on repeat the entire hour I've been there?! (At the same time as the TV shop channel). This happens too often. I don't understand why this is the norm here. It's very odd and annoying.

It's such a shame because the food itself is actually really nice and I want to support a vegan restaurant, but these are such basic things that they fall short on.

So in summary: If you're not gluten free, then go ahead and eat here! But check your bill, ask them to turn the TV shop channel off, ask them to take the 1 song off repeat before it drives you mental, hope your order is correct, and you'll have a good meal, maybe,...

I found this place online and didn't check many reviews beforehand- I was in a rush. I really wanted to like this place because it promised a huge variety of vegetarian/ vegan options and the waitress who answered the phone had lovely manners. It took about 20 minutes which was fine. The flavours of the food were pleasant, notably the samosas. I didn't find the food remotely spicy which was a shame, perhaps I was meant to tell the waitress I wanted more heat although she never offered for any of the curries and the conversation wasn't rushed. Unfortunately everyone including myself found all the curries far too salty, now usually I'm the kind of person to add salt to my meals but this was a tummy-sore, overbearingly sodium drenched experience! None of us could finish our curries (even though we were still hungry) because they were so incredibly salty, we joked the chef had managed to accidentally drop 1kg of salt into all our curries at once. Not only that but we were overcharged as well :( I really wanted to like this place. I don't know if I'll be back when there's other great...

Naan is exceptionally good. Very few Indian restaurants have naan that is so tasty. I have ordered food online from here and haven’t had a chance to taste curry, would definitely need to try it. The bad side which I think they need to improve is with vegetable fried rice. It is just rice and negligible veggies. Additionally, I had this burnt taste while eating rice. I have ordered rice twice from here and both the times I was disappointed (even after mentioning some notes for online order). Only veggies prominent was coriander, that too on the top just for the sake of garnishing. With paneer fried rice I felt as if it was a “rice curry” that I was eating. Paneer pieces should be finely chopped so we can eat with rice, but the pieces were very large which again was really disappointing. Service in restaurant is too slow. Had to wait for almost 45 mins for the food to be served after ordering.

The Leaf is an Indian vegan restaurant. All of their dishes are vegan but you can ask for dairy by special request. I don't mind the vegan food at all. The food is tasty and patrons have a choice of mushroom, tofu, tempeh, jackfruit or mock meat (mock lamb, fish or chicken). There is ample choice of food here, from the typical North Indian fare found in most Indian restaurants to not so common Indian cuisines. I cannot attest to the authenticity of the food but it tastes good. The restaurant is in Leederville so parking will always be an issue. I was lucky that I went on a day that wasn't busy. The decor is basic and tables are spaced wide apart to ensure social distancing. There is an upstairs section so it can cater for more patrons if required. All in all, the food was good and the serving size is decent.

Food 5/5 Service 2/5 (and that's being generous) Really loved our meals but the way the staff behaved and interacted with guests was absolutely laughable. My friend and I didn't cause a fuss but we did have to laugh when our orders weren't taken. Drinks weren't given and the complete lack of interest to sell us anything or explain the menu options etc like you normally get in a service industry / hospitality. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, they just lacked the desire or training to enquire with us perhaps. Either way we had a laugh and absolutely loved our meals so that saved the place. I'd recommend to my vegan friends simple for the great choice of dishes and quality of meals.
