I recently had the pleasure of dining at 佳味餐厅 (Jiāwèi Cāntīng), a Chinese restaurant located in the heart of Shanghai. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that exuded traditional Chinese charm. The elegant decor, featuring ornate wooden furniture and tasteful artwork, created a serene ambiance that set the stage for a delightful culinary experience.
The menu at 佳味餐厅 offered a wide range of Chinese dishes, showcasing the diverse flavors and culinary techniques of the region. As a lover of authentic Chinese cuisine, I was thrilled to see both familiar favorites and unique specialties on the menu. The extensive selection included mouthwatering dishes from various provinces, promising an exciting journey through China's culinary landscape.
For starters, I ordered the hot and sour soup, a classic choice to whet the appetite. The soup arrived piping hot, packed with a tantalizing blend of spices, tangy vinegar, and earthy mushrooms. The balance of flavors was impeccable, and the generous portion left me wanting more.
Moving on to the main course, I opted for the Kung Pao Chicken, a Sichuan specialty known for its bold and fiery flavors. The dish did not disappoint. Tender pieces of chicken were stir-fried with a medley of crunchy peanuts, crisp vegetables, and vibrant spices, resulting in a harmonious combination of textures and tastes. The heat of the Sichuan peppercorns provided a delightful numbing sensation that added an extra layer of excitement to each bite.
Another standout dish was the Dongpo Pork, a slow-cooked delicacy that originated from Hangzhou. The pork belly was incredibly tender and succulent, braised in a rich soy-based sauce that had been simmering for hours. The flavors were deep and complex, with a hint of sweetness that complemented the melt-in-your-mouth texture of the meat perfectly. It was a true testament to the culinary mastery of the chefs at 佳味餐厅.
To round off the meal, I indulged in the restaurant's signature dessert, the Mango Pomelo Sago. This refreshing dessert featured sweet mango chunks, juicy pomelo segments, and silky sago pearls, all swimming in a light and creamy coconut milk broth. It was a delightful ending to a satisfying feast, providing a delightful contrast to the richness of the earlier dishes.
The service at 佳味餐厅 was attentive and efficient. The staff members were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful recommendations. They were quick to refill my water and ensured that I had a pleasant dining experience throughout.
The only minor drawback was the slightly higher price point compared to other local Chinese restaurants. However, considering the quality of the ingredients, the skillful execution of the dishes, and the overall dining experience, I found it to be a reasonable investment.
In conclusion, 佳味餐厅 (Jiāwèi Cāntīng) is a hidden gem in the heart of Shanghai, offering an exquisite selection of Chinese delicacies. From the moment I stepped inside, I was transported to a culinary paradise. With its inviting atmosphere, flavorful dishes, and attentive service, it is a restaurant that I would highly recommend to anyone seeking an authentic and memorable Chinese...
Read moreI recently dined at Curry Munchers in Perth City and was thoroughly impressed with both the food and the hospitality. The experience began with a complimentary serving of crisp pappadums, paired beautifully with refreshing mint chutney and tangy tamarind chutney—an excellent start that set the tone for the meal. For the main course, I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavour. The paneer was perfectly cooked—soft on the inside yet firm enough to hold its shape—and soaked up the aromatic masala gravy beautifully. The balance of spices was spot on, offering warmth and depth without being overpowering. To accompany the curry, I tried both the Chilli Naan and Garlic Naan. The chilli naan added a delightful kick, making it a perfect match for the mildly spiced paneer dish. The garlic naan, on the other hand, was fragrant and buttery, with just the right amount of char from the tandoor. Both breads were fluffy and fresh, ideal for scooping up the rich masala. Overall, Curry Munchers provided an authentic and satisfying dining experience. The thoughtful complimentary touches, excellent vegetarian options, and consistently well-prepared dishes make it a fantastic spot for Indian cuisine lovers...
Read moreWe went back again last week 19th June 2021 and was very disappointed with the service. We booked a table and waited over 45 minutes for our food, others received their food and the owner was aware we were waiting. Then our entree and mains came out together and we could not enjoy our much awaited for meal. The restaurant was busy but it felt that it was not well organised and chaotic. Really disappointing after our last visit.
We tried Curry Muncher on a cold Thursday night and We are so glad we did! The food was exceptional and service was great too. We had trio of samosa, which were made with fresh ingredients and were just perfect. We had chickpea and broccoli curry, Hyderabadi dum ka murg (chicken cooked with saffron and herbs) also accompanied by saffron rice. Everything was tasty, well presented and we left very satisfied. We will definitely...
