I had an all day meeting in Leederville and decided to shout myself breakfast and relax (which meant I avoided all the traffic at 9am). This place looked inviting from the carpark so I wandered in. The girl at the counter was nice, but seemed indifferent and bored. On saying I was here for breakfast and picking up a menu, she goes, yeah, and wandered off. I looked up ready to order and had to get her attention as she was on her laptop. The same indifference when I ordered. The coffee was below average to be honest, I'm not a fan of Milklab products as it tastes like UHT milk, so add that to the lack of flavour in the coffee and I'm glad I got a small cup. The eggs were cooked to perfection, but seeing a plate of eggs on toast with absolutely no garnish of any kind, makes them look boring and uninviting. When staff don't even wear closed in shoes (toe covered birks do not constitute proper shoes for a cafe) and shuffle their feet, it just feels lazy to me and unmotivated. They may have their regulars and those who love their product, but for me it's not how I want to start my morning and I won't be back in a hurry, if at all, when you have quite a few other...
Read moreOrdered a Masala Chai and was given a Masala Chai Tea, kindly suggested and showed the waiter how a Masala chai looks like and was responded in a rude and harsh manner. I am an avid chai lover and order & drink Chai everywhere , if you don’t know what a Masala Chai looks like, don’t mislead the public and reframe from cultural appropriation; Secondly, not being able to take on advice is fine but no need to be rude.
Edit: reply to owner: It’s disappointing to see the owner continuing to justify a clear mistake rather than take responsibility. What was served was not Masala Chai and was just the ingredients to make a Masala Chai— anyone can do a simple Google search and find countless images that reflect what an authentic Masala Chai looks like. I’ve attached one here for reference.
As someone who genuinely loves and regularly drinks chai, I have ordered many Masala Chai in the past in cafes in Australia and never given a Masala Chai that looks like this.
Misrepresenting a cultural staple and refusing to take feedback isn’t just unprofessional — it borders on cultural appropriation and misleading the public. A little humility and willingness to learn would...
Read moreWent here this morning on my way to work for a takeaway coffee and a 'Feeling Scrambled'. The woman behind the counter was nice and attentive, she took my order and the coffee was produced shortly. However, I managed to drink my entire coffee while waiting for the food to come out. After I saw a few other people order after me, and leave before me i stood up. At this point I noticed that the woman behind the counter was on her way to the kitchen, and came back and apologised to me for the long wait - apparently there was some confusion regarding my order. She said they had a toasty already made which I could take or I could wait for them to make what I ordered. I took the toasty, and she gave me a free coffee for the trouble, and was very apologetic.
I rated it very high because given the situation - it's January 2, 2015 - they were very busy as most places were closed, as well they are only human and mistakes can be made. I was happy they recognised the mistake and made amends for it. The woman was polite the whole way through and nobody treated me with any contempt. And that was the first time I tried their toasty, which...
