[Menulog home delivery order] First and last time I order from Virasat. Only 2 good things about my experience was: The young delivery driver was nice. The food was delivered piping hot.
I ordered the Lamb Korma along with a Kashmiri Saffron Rice (with dried fruit), Samosa parcels and Keema Naan bread (minced lamb stuffed).
The korma was not fully enjoyable because the meat was rubbery and chewy and I wasn't fully enjoying the style of sauce. The fruity saffron rice was personally not for me, but it was a soft and crumbly rice, so perhaps I might have enjoyed choosing plain saffron, who knows.. The samosas were ok flavour wise, but a little dry, and pastry I found was quite oily. The naan bread was excessively oily on the outside and the meat inside was tasteless and very dry. So much of the main dish and rice was left over, such a waste as I did not wish to keep some of it for leftovers.
Rating 2 out of 5 because of the service and hot food temperatures upon delivery via Menulog. I've read other reviews now about the rude treatment of phone orders, long wait times during quiet times, and below average customer service, and I think there's no way I'd ever step foot into this place for a dine in experience based on how terrible the...
Read moreThe food is good but the service is horrible.
I have been a customer of Virasat for the past 10 years now. I don't know if owners have changed but I have been there on multiple occasions, even when they were completely empty on Friday nights because the food was good but now they act like they are too big for their britches.
The lady at the reception is extremely rude. She interrupted me abruptly on numerous times while I was ordering. She was loud unfriendly, both on the phone and in person. I was told it would take 45 minutes for my order to be ready. I got there at 50 minutes just in case. She looked for my food for god knows how long before going into the kitchen and came back without telling me anything. 10 minutes later they come out with my drinks then tell me that its going to be a bit longer because they are waiting for the Naan bread.
I waited half an hour to get the bread. Recipes for naan bread at home say it is 25 minutes when you start from scratch. No apologies, no explanation. I had to wait 1.5 hours for my food in total.
My family buys food there every week. We are a big family so its over $130 every week. I have half a mind to start...
Read moreOver the years and with many orders we have come to enjoy Virasat (30+ orders), however the quality of the food has sadly and largely degraded since the last time we ordered (April 22). This order was quiet disappointing for a number of reasons. The aloo matar we ordered was very watery and contained very little potato. The gulab juman were not soft, but rubbery. Even the butter chicken used to contain decent chunks of breast meat, but now contains small pieces in much less quantity. Portion size has also drastically dropped, you used to get really good portion sizes, now the delivery containers aren't even full. Naan bread used to be fluffy and delicious, now is this flat compressed bread. The plain white rice is still good. Pretty disappointed over-all and its sad to see a restaurant drop from a solid 10/10 to a generous 2/10. I have heard the restaurant has changed hands, so this may be the reason. I understand things are getting more expensive, but I would rather pay the extra $1 per dish to cover the extra bit of chicken or potato to ensure I received the good...
