If I could give zero stars, it would be too many.
We were absolutely famished and looking forward to our dinner only to find overpriced and very small dishes. The green chicken curry should have been named green bamboo curry, there was no chicken in it.
The lamb dish was so full of salt, this one dish would give you extreme high blood pressure. It looked good, but tasted disgusting.
I also asked for a small bowl of chopped chilli which they brought out halfway through the meal and only ordered one small serve of steamed rice which is deliberately not on the menu, so no surprise, they charge $7 for a small bowl of steamed rice and $2 for a tiny amount of chopped chilli that wasn't brought out in time.
I would have forgotten it, but when giving feedback at the time of paying I received such a rude cashier, that she tried to dictate to me how I should have raised the matter and when I asked her to stop dictating to me, she just kept going on and on. Then in front of me, she starts speaking in Thai to the waitress with a smirk on her face so I asked her to stop being so rude.
I asked if she was the owner, she said no, so I asked her for her name and she refused to give it.
Her clothes were so dirty, it looked like she rolls around the kitchen floor and then presents herself as someone of authority.
She even had the nerve to say I should know better because my wife is Thai when she is NOT Thai.
Damn rude. No wonder they shut at 8pm sharp and the restaurant only had two other tables. I hope the owners take this review on board and make serious changes.
We would have ordered another couple of dishes, but it was just so below expectations in terms of food quality and service we decided to go get some take away sushi afterwards.
We only went there because China City restaurant do not open on a Tuesday. The best restaurant by far in Bunbury. Had they been opened White Elephant wouldn't get any customers.
Everyone should take this review as clear advice to avoid this restaurant at all cost and leave it for the...
Read moreI have been coming here for over 10 years, and until last night, i had nothing bad to say about this place, infact i love the gaeng fuk jeh so much i order it every time! However.... last night (Wednesday) my parents and i went here for dinner, it was 6, there was only 3 other tables seated, two already had food. We ordered roti, fish cakes, choo chee pla, pad thai , gaeng fuk jeh and coconut rice. The waiter taking our order had zero knowledge of the menu, was confused with everything we ordered, made us point to the menu so he could write the names down. Dads fish cakes came quick and were fresh. My curry arrived, two minutes later the choo chee pla arrives. Then two tables of guests arrive, the table next to us orders, and their food arrives, still, we have no rice, roti or pad thai. We tried to catch the attention of waitstaff during this time. Our curries were getting cold. Finally a waitress notices us and we tell her that we haven't recieved our rice or other dishes. She apologises and goes to the kitchen . 5 minutes later, the waiter puts rice on our table, but its plain. It takes another 5 minutes to flag him down again and explain that its wrong and we are still waiting for other things. This is an hour after we ordered. Long story short, the pad thai was sickly sweet, the roti, which came after we were finished eating was hot and freshly fried, but tasted only of oil.and although the fish in the choo chee was large and looked lovely, the flavours were not great.
Im very sad to write this review, this was my favourite take away for many years, but i just couldn't get over how bad the service was, and the standard of food has plummeted....
Read moreDisappointing. We chose the highest rated in the district, so maybe we just caught them on a bad night, but I can only write about our own experience.
At first, we were asked if we had a booking. If they had a website, we would have. All they have is three different Facebook pages, none of which take bookings. Be that as it may, there was a phone number but I chose not to use it. That's not their fault but if they'd had a website then it would have been easier for them.
The problems really began with the waiter, who was so sullen and looked like he wanted to be anywhere but in a restaurant talking to customers. My wife ordered an entrée-sized meal but specifically asked for it to come out at the same time as my main course.
It didn't.
It arrived about ten minutes earlier. When my meal eventually arrived, the waitress tipped it and spilt gravy on the table. She didn't pause to wipe it up; she simply pushed the plate on top of the spillage, giggled and walked away.
The food itself was plentiful but it was undoubtedly the worst Thai food I have ever had anywhere. My wife's fish patties were rubbery and only hinted at the taste of fish. My own lamb meal had a piece of bone in it that may have chipped my tooth.
As I say, perhaps we caught them on a bad night. Perhaps they had new staff, but I can only comment on our experience and we wouldn't recommend them...
