Club Windang — Restaurant in Wollongong City Council

If I could have given this place less than one star, I would've.. My partner and I went to eat there for the first time tonight and we will not be going back.. Both our meals were ordinary at best.. The chips and diane sauce weren't necessarily terrible but the tiniest salad portion we've ever been served in any bistro we've ever been to was dry and sad and browning and awful with no dressing to speak of and unfortunately the worst problem with the actual food was more serious than just taste or quality of ingredients.. Both our schnitzels came out smelling and tasting of fish having obviously been fried in the same oil the kitchen was using to fry seafood which is absolutely a cross contact food safety issue.. And the worst problem of all was that when I brought this up with the staff, the older woman who had taken my order and the pink haired woman who felt compelled to butt into my conversation for seemingly no reason were both so rude and dismissive and when I did eventually access the head chef, he laughed and smirked through informing me that the fact that all the food was fried in the same oil was outside of his control despite my pointing out and his acknowledging that this was both not safe and not true.. Now, just to be clear, we ate the food.. It was paid for and cooked and neither of us actually suffer personally from food allergies.. Supplementary to that neither of us are huge fans of food waste considering people go hungry every single day.. It's just a real shame that our new local club turned out to have such a terrible attitude towards both customer service and food safety... Would...

I've been coming to windang club with my family for 2 years now ever since I moved down here.

The food is always hot and delicious each and every time my family and I come here, we all love the lunch time specials and the Wednesday sniz nights when we can come.

A massive shout out to the awesome staff members made me and my family feel safe today by coming out to us when i called for club assistance when I was getting abused and harassed in the parking lot due to individual/s bullys who wanted the car spot for them selves claiming it was there's when it clearly wasn't the case, i was there first so I clearly gotten the spot rightfully, it's common sense right there.....i guess not all are blessed with the common sense these days.

We went into the club checked in given the staff member/s the information needed and enjoyed lunch.

I wish I asked who the lady's name was who came out to us in the parking lot, you were incredibly awesome in assisting us. 🥰thank you🥰

Also to the other staff member who stayed on the phone to us while I was waiting for assistance you were also awesome too.

The staff here always go above and beyond to make sure your safe and that you also enjoy your time at the club everytime with always a welcome at the entrance by staff.

Usually the club is really amazing and we have a great time with good food and a couple cheaper drinks. The club itself is beautiful, which is why I can't give only 1 star. However our latest experience at the bistro will probably stop us ever coming back. Our food never came out and when we asked to get it taken off the bill due to us having to leave because our 6 month old daughter needed to go to bed, the bistro lady who claimed to be the manager would not let us leave without paying for food that we never recieved. After myself and my partner being insulted by her and her being extremely rude and loud enough to make our baby cry, we finally left and heard her gossiping to coworkers about how 'painful and rude' we were. We would have been totally fine taking the food in a to-go container if she had offered but after her saying that 'it is done, you need to wait' and still not ever seeing it come out, it was quite clear that the food had either been given out incorrectly or they had completely forgotten about it. All of this happened in front of family which was quite embarassing and we never even got an apology from her or any other staff.
