When I’m really hungry I’m always excited to visit McDonalds to satiate my craving for quality food. So when I came to McDonalds Fairy Meadow I was looking forward to a great meal.
I ordered one of my go-to meals: a large quarter pounder meal with lettuce (50c) and bacon ($1). The bacon adds an extra flavour punch and the lettuce cuts through the meatiness of the quarter pounder whilst making you feel like you have made a slightly healthier choice.
I waited 5 minutes to receive my meal and then sat down excitedly to enjoy the experience. When I took my first bite of the burger, however, I was disappointed to find that there was no added bacon. The blandness of the beef patty and lettuce was overpowering without the salty flavour punch of the bacon.
Having paid an extra dollar for bacon, I decided to go to the counter and ask for the burger that I had ordered. The lady at the counter took the baconless burger and threw it in the bin where it belonged. She then proceeded to ask the McDonald’s Chefs to make a quarter pounder with lettuce and bacon for me.
One of the McDonald’s chefs responded by calling out to the room “I need bacon”. At this point I suspected that the initial absence of bacon from my burger was due to this same bacon shortage, but rather than waiting to complete the correct order, the baconless burger was sent out as if it didn’t make much of a difference. (It did).
I then stood and waited for about 12 minutes for the new burger as I watched the chaotic shambles of McDonalds workers preparing food, taking orders and throwing onion at each other in the kitchen.
As I stood watching, a strong feeling began to develop in my gut, the feeling that there was an extremely low chance that this new burger being made would be correct to my order.
These feelings were confirmed when I received my new burger, sat down and opened the box to find a quarter pounder with two beef patties, bacon and no lettuce.
I took a bite of this burger and instantly regretted it as a meat explosion filled my mouth, unfettered by the crisp wetness of shredded lettuce.
Whilst I did appreciate the medium apology fries that was placed in the bag along with the new burger, it did not abate the disappointment of my McDonalds experience.
I would probably still come back though seeing as McDonalds is a great family restaurant, serving quality food to...
Read morehi, i came in late last night and i know overnights suck and theres always a wait, thats completely fine. we went through drive thru, got our drinks and parked (totally fine, i get it). a crew member came out with our happy meal and when we asked where the rest was she told us we had been given it. i used to work at maccas, i was very polite when i said we hadn’t received the food just the drinks. we then went back and forth with her saying we had received it when we definitely hadn’t, and she actually took a step back and LOOKED in our backseat???? i couldn’t believe she was actually looking through my car for proof i was lying. she then told me i needed to go inside and talk to the manager as i had already received my food? so i had to come inside in pyjamas and ugg boots leaving my drunk boyfriend in the car which made me uncomfortable, and explain to the manager that it must have been handed out wrong and i hadn’t got it. we went back and forth a couple times and then she asked back area for the food. i waited another fifteen minutes maybe? just standing there while it was forgotten about. eventually another crew member who was really sweet asked what i was waiting on, i explained and she grabbed it for me. i left before realising the nuggets weren’t in the bag, so i went back and had to wait the three minutes it takes for nuggets to cook.
i totally get that drive thru is the priority, but the people on counter near me were talking about how they had been waiting for 25 minutes. its really not okay to be serving off the counter orders to make your timers look better and then completely neglect counter altogether. with two managers on especially, and only one young person actually getting the orders. you need to be positioning crew in a more effective way, and maybe not arguing with customers when you handed out food to the wrong car?
im sorry to be so blunt here but it was...

I usually get bad to quite average service here. Sometimes it's really bad. And sometimes it's really slow. It's usually a bit busy, especially the drive thru. Being located on a highway open 24 hrs duh. The staff are mostly casual or part time high school students that aren't really trained or even try. I never see the same person working there more than once or twice if that.
Food is okay, average maccas when it's done "right". I have sometimes opened my burger box to find stuff quite crooked and out of place like a joke. I don't like spending money to eat food that is already not healthy when it looks it I could have made it better covering one eye and using spatulas taped to my hands for hands. Still not the worst yet, like once at another Maccas ordering a special edition burger find TWO ingredients missing(bacon and something else) while also looking thrown together and MnMs on the bottom of my Mcflurry not on top for God knows why.
And staff will talk about personal issues and ignore you at the counter when you can easily be seen. I have to forcibly grab ur attention while ur on ur job as if it were a favour? Prefer the Wollongong one, or gladly spend my money at a nearby competitor.
This is an edited review. I rated it 2 stars before but knocked off one because the quality of service hasn't improved, it's usually consistently unsatisfactory, issues from the past that could be fixed quickly don't seem to be addressed, and I don't like to gamble this much to see if service will be adequate just because I'm nearby here rather than Burelli St. when there are so many alternatives nearby(granted none that are open 24hr) but the Burelli St. Maccas in Wollongong is usually better....
