Guzman y Gomez - Fairy Meadow — Restaurant in Wollongong City Council

What a damn shame. The opportunity to have a truly different style of Mexican place, let down buy a bunch of recalcitrant, surly kids who couldn’t be bothered with the absolute basics of customer service. Truly, what a damn shame.

Visited the store early on a Saturday night, under the assumption that they would get a little bit busy.

All I encountered trying to collect an online order was a room full of sullen young staffers, none of whom would even deign to look up from the jobs they were doing to serve customers.

Waited in vain for almost 10 minutes before anyone would even bother to look up.

Won’t be darkening their doors again. It’s not the first time the service has been subpar, and given the absolutely rotten attitude of all the staff involved, I doubt it’s going to improve any time soon.

I visited Guzman y Gomez Fairy Meadow on the 7/8/23 at around 1:30. While the store itself was clean the rest of it was terrible. Im going to say who i think was the manger (he had a strong accent) was constantly yelling at his staff in front of customers which was very off putting, The guy that served us looked very un happy which is understandable as if i was being yelled at by my manager constantly I wouldn't be in a good mood. On another note they messed up our order they put the wrong meat in our nachos, which i was very annoyed about. Also very expensive for what it really was. I was ordering for 12 – which was, essentially, a morale boost for my warehousing team just down the road. I think it’s important to pre-frame I got in the car at 12:10pm from North Wollongong and said to my peer I couldn’t make a meeting at 12:30pm because a Mexican reward lunch was too important (it was.)

Fast forward me getting to the restaurant, ordering for 12, being pulled forward in DT because obviously.. but then no more than 4 minutes later presented with the food exactly as I had ordered it.

Back in time for the meeting that started at 12:30pm, with food that lifted everyone’s spirits after a pretty average morning, and on we go.

I have and continue to sing the praises of the food quality at Fairy Meadow and I am never disappointed.
