If you love Sushi then this is the place to eat. Also has another location in Wollongong. This is a quiet little restaurant with a nice modern decor with a hint of Japan and a nice touch with the Koi art on the wall. Food is five stars. I had take away Salmon Chef's Roll first time I visited. I then came back a second time with my Daughter who ordered the chicken. Pricing was good for quality and size. Hands down wins over any shopping centre sushi ! I'd have to say it's also better than Sushi Bay which is now number 2 on my list. Toro in Thirroul and their other Store in Wollongong will always be my first choice in the Illawarra. Well done guys very professional. If you get a chance drop in you won't be disappointed.

We were served a whole tray of sashimi that was a week old. We drove an hour and half to come here and have sushi by the beach. Really could have stopped at any beach and any restaurant but saw the reviews here were good. Soft shell crab and chicken katsu rolls were decent. Sashimi (5 piece) were off. Atleast a few days old. It was so disappointing and infuriating that the chef knew it was off, served us and charged us! ($53 total for 2 rolls and 5 sashimi) You can see the discolour in the photo. Just FYI for anyone else who will go to a restaurant for being “highly rated” on google

The food was quite good and I was going to rate 5 stars, but... * The vegetable tempura was actuallly stodgy kakiagi * A chef in the kitchen was constantly hoiking/clearing his throat. Asked how our meals were, I tried to explain we were wanted tempura. The answer was tempura was too expensive and difficult. Maybe a bit arrogant and didn't want to listen (why ask?) Right, anyway, yes chef! "You know best, I'm just the customer"

Went here for dinner with our two kids.

Ordered a BIBIGO which is touted on the menu to come with a spicy sauce. When the waitress came to take our order my partner expressed that he wanted the spice to be medium-hot. When it arrived, it was not at all spicy.

When he patiently asked for additional chilli to bring up the spiciness of the dish, they then said that they were would charge $1 for the extra chilli.

I have never come across any other restaurant (Japanese or otherwise) that charged for additional chilli, let alone chilli that was meant to be in the dish in the first place. It was a shock given every other restaurant in THIRROUL does it. It was a slap in the face.

Then there came my dish: which was advertised on the specials board as: Salmon Avocado Poke Bowl. It arrived in an impressive big bowl: WITHOUT any avocado. When I asked for avocado I was met with: “did you ask for avocado?” At which point I incredulously pointed to the blackboard that said Salmon Avocado Poke Bowl and the waitress - to her credit - went back to the kitchen and pointed this fact out, and a few moments later gave me a plate sporting half an avocado.

We only came here because it is close to our residence and seemed like a convenient option. Unfortunately this experience means we will be travelling further afield for our Japanese fix.

We will not recommend this place above its other more accomplished local competitors, who get the little things right and take the time to get to know...

My wife and i went here for dinner we like to try lots of meals, so we had 3 enrees & 2 main meals,1 we had was a crab claw entree, the crab tasted like it was from a can, also when i asked about what was in the spicy seafood main meal i was having, i was told there was mussels, oysters, prawns, lots of seafood, although when i received my meal there was only 1 mussle, 3 medium sized prawns, and a few rolled pieces of calamari that tasted like they were from a can, no other seafood to be found, just a lot of salad. When it came time to pay our bill the man asked if everything was ok? i explained the lady said there was plenty of seafood in my main meal e.g mussles lots of seafood although there was only 1 mussell and 3 medium prawns and a few rolled calamari and the other seafood mentioned was not seen, and i also never mentioned nothing else about the poor quality seafood, i only asked if he could just discount that 1 main meal he said no we are just workers here we cant do that, i said can you ask the chef he said no, i said well we wont be back, and i will write a bad review, he said ok thats ok $96.80 thankyou card or cash? May i also say me and my wife were passing a lot of smelly gas afterwards, Dont go here unless you enjoy poor seafood and you have plenty of incense to burn...

We ordered three sushi rolls, grilled salmon, chicken teriyaki and tempura vegetables.

The waitress was nice and fast. The food did not arrive at the same time from the first rolls arriving to the last we waited some time.

The chicken teriyaki was relatively dry. The tempura vegetables were ok but the grilled salmon was disgusting. It tasted completely like the gasoline from the Flambé burner. The gas smell was also really present. The salmon was not crunchy just completely cooked. Even after removing the salmon from the rolls the gas taste was still present.

Since the waitresses did not come to our table to ask if we would like something further the eat or drink I went to the bar to pay. I told the waitress about the very present gas small and taste. She talked to the cook, who said: that is not possible and that we probably just did not like it.

After telling them it’s not about liking or disliking it, it just a really present gas taste and smell, they did not charge us for the grilled salmon roll. However, they also did not believe us, the cook reacted very defensive. I offered them to try it but they rejected that. After paying we left the sushi place and we will never...
