KB Thai — Restaurant in Woy Woy

Something is not right here, most of the top ratings are just ratings or generic reviews which convinced me to go but my experience was quite different. I ate here for Fathers Day and it was awful. The only saving grace was the 2 young wait staff who were lovely (1 star for them). The coconut prawn was actually one prawn sliced through to make 2, with a massive amount of batter and then coconut on top, so by the time it was (over)cooked the sliver of prawn was rubber, not that you could taste it anyway and the whole thing was just inedible. The pork dumplings were bland but better, however they were rubber at the edges suggesting it had been stored wrongly. The Pad See Ew was one of the nicest we have had, so the other star for that, however the carrot in the dish was flat out raw. The massaman was a joke. No way that was fresh, it tasted at least a day old, was greasy and was only meet, no nuts or onions, just beef in a sludge. The potato had a days old taste to it, happily there was only 2 in the whole dish - the beef was fall apart but tough and tasteless -microwaved? We've been going to KB Thai for years and have always been so extremely impressed. Sadly however, not only was the food very below par, but the woman who answered the phone clearly didn't listen to a thing I said.

We had a table for 4 booked NYE however I was too unwell to go out. I rang to advise it was -1 person, and ordered a chicken laksa and duck pancakes. Not only did I tell her 3 times I was severely allergic to chilli, but she also repeated it to me (clearly not to the chef though). I told her I'd pick up at 1810.

When I dropped the others off at restaurant this woman had cancelled the entire booking. The take away had on it "pick up time 1750" so pancakes were soggy by the time I was eating.

My biggest complaint however - and I hope the restaurant reads this and understands just how serious this was. There was so much heat from chilli 🥵🤥😡. I had stressed to her this is a serious allergy of mine, NOT a taste preference. Due to however this wasn't relayed (I'd like to think that rather than they just didn't care), I ended up in hospital NYE and spent 2 nights there due to how sick I became (I only had a spoonful but that's all it takes). No complaints about the food. This has always been our go to place as its right across the street.. but what happened last Sunday, broke my heart. Me and friend visited the restaurant around 11:30 am with our autistic kids. We wanted an early lunch but on reaching the restaurant both our kids lost their calm and started screaming. We apologised to the waitress on counter and decided to take a takeaway. While the takeaway was being prepared our kids were a bit restless standing and making loud noises. We ourselves were feeling very bad but in the meantime another waitress came out from behind the counter somewhere and started yelling at the kids. She growled "sit down quietly" at our kids right infront of us. My friend said that they are autistic and since noone else was in the restaurant apart from us, we really could not understand why she behaved so rudely. Our life is already so difficult with the kids and instead of helping us we were yelled at and embarrassed. We quitely paid and left.
