An extremely disappointing experience. We picked Drift to support local. We didn't get to eat as a group (even though our 2 tables were joined together by the gentlemen that greeted us, total 7 people) . We ordered by the scan code at 5:56pm, drink service was sporadic, 2 pizzas and salad from table that ordered 2nd arrived, but when we enquired about the other 3 pizzas after approx 45 + mins, we were met with defensiveness and told it would be ready soon. Given half our group had finished their meals, we asked if we could get our money back on the food we had paid for but not yet recived, but this upset the pizza chef, who yelled '35 mins for a pizza is not unreasonable ... ' from behind the pole . We ask that he speak to us, not yell from out back, but he said he was too busy cooking. The point was we came to eat as a small group, at a time that wasnt overly busy. A simple acknowledgement or apology would have sufficed. Based on the interaction, we made the decision to leave without receiving the remainder of our meal, due to poor customer service - nothing else (refund request was denied) nearly an hour after we ordered . We paid more than $250 dollars in your restuarant tonight, I think it's reasonable to expect some level of customer service (whether a customer spends $5 or $500) that is what is disappointing. We did not swear at anyone, just a simple request to consider a refund for food we hadn't received more than 45 mins after half our party had eaten. I hope your response to this demonstrates the customer service you would like to deliver to both locals and visitors to the area, and the service you would like to receive if you were to dine elsewhere and is not a defensive response as per a number of other responses to reviews, but instead an acknowledgment of an interaction with customers that was not to the standard you would...
Read moreVery unfortunate experience with the owner - getting kicked out for asking for a cup of ice (I wish I was being dramatic). Firstly I queried if I could make an ingredient change to a cocktail when I was abruptly told there are NO changes to anything. Ok no worries. I popped into the bar and asked for a table water, impatiently told they were around the corner outside. You have to fill your own at the outside tap. Again no worries but it is quite warm so I pop into the bar, apologise for interrupting again and ask for a glass of ice, to which I am told no. I clarified, ‘a glass of ice.’ Again no… I asked so what am I paying a 15% surcharge holiday surcharge for, she replied: ‘we do not provide that service [ice]’. I was quite shocked and said it is Australian law to provide water (I was going on to say it is not unreasonable given the heat of the day that ice can be provided), she rightly said it has been provided before I could finish my sentence, adding, 'If you wanted a cold drink, you should have ordered one.' I was so shocked that I said, ‘really, no ice?’ She told me she wouldn’t argue anymore, I am ‘just a walk-in’, I will be refunded and we can leave. I said ok, no worries. I then was standing by my table when she said, angrily, ‘you can leave.’ I smiled and said yes I am just waiting for my refund. I know by reading other reviews that this lady will have a rebuttal comment painting me as the bad, rude customer which she can do, but her delusion is only going to affect her bar in the long run. It is an awesome idea and I was so looking forward to spending the afternoon there all holiday. I’ve done about 14 holiday periods in hospitality, so I know how stressful, exhausting and frustrating it can be, giving up family time to provide for others’, but her reaction and refusal to scoop some ice into a cup was very...
Read moreWORST RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE EVER!
I wish I had read the reviews before experiencing this awful restaurant. From the second we walked in to the minute we left we were disappointed. The service and the attitude from the blonde lady which I assume is the owner was appauling and quite frankly I don’t have a clue how she can run a business without taking on the feedback from the hundreds of reviews left on her social media and google. Do yourself a favour and read through them. There is an obvious theme of how rude and unaccommodating this women is to customers.
We were given 1 hr 45 min time slot in which we were updated every 20 minutes how much time we had remaining at our table. We received our food with 20 minutes to go and we’re then reminded of how much time we had to scoff down our food and drink.
Even though the restaurant was empty and no one booked after us. All our ordering was done on QR codes and any questions we had we felt we were an inconvenience to anyone working there.
Drift was not accomodating at all to our group. The staff cleared all our tables and packed them away with 4 minutes remaining on our time frame even when 4 of our group were still drinking their beers. Literally felt like they grabbed my dads glass as soon as he had finished his last sip and were told our “time” was up and we “have to leave” and that “we knew the rules”. I am gobsmacked that a person in hospitality can think this is an acceptable way to treat paying customers. The menu is overpriced and cocktails are half full, so I wouldn’t bother!! What a shame that such an awful place is located in such a beautiful coastal town. Such a waste of space and of our money. We are really rocked and disappointed. We won’t be back and will let everyone we know of...
