Gather Yamba — Restaurant in Yamba

My partner and I went to Gather for breakfast and it was utterly superb.

Just half-a-dozen or so options for breakfast, but all executed extremely well with extremely generous portion sizes. The confit tomatoes on toast are highly recommended. The pastries also looked exceptional.

Staff were clearly run off their feet over Easter - particularly the one poor chef busy pumping out food all morning - but stayed in impressively good spirits.

The only potential points for improvement were that when the place was rammed, customers (naturally) kept moving from table to table as more comfortable tables became available, and that with a pay-at-counter model, food and drinks often became "lost", and the payment point became a huge bottleneck. It might be worth trialling table service, to minimise the number of financial transactions per table, take the ordering load off the single person at the register, and get on top of table changes before food and...

Great location and nice ambience here. The staff is friendly and the service is fast in a positive way.

Coffee and Chai latte were ok, about food... I believe the menu is great, nice ideas and combination of flavors. However, the food it wasn't as we expected, taste was neutral, in my plate there was more salad than rostis and trout, not enough cheese on the Avo toast and my poached eggs were hard and not hot at all...

We took a detour to Yamba on our way up north for some breakfast and decided to stop into this neat place... we quickly became thankfull for the decision as this place produced one of the best breakfast we have had across Australia.
